A thousand luminous flecks of white flickered above as Tren snuck out onto the roof. He'd seen the sight plenty of times already, but couldn't seem to bring himself to sleep without one last look...
There was a prominent chill in the air, and Tren shivered as his barefeet came into contact with the cold shingles that protected his old home from the rain.
After a day of trading and bargaining at the marketplace, the silence of the night seemed almost unreal. The ribbons of unearthly light that danced about the clear skies only seemed to add to this surreality.
Tren made his way up the roof as quiet as a shadow, knowing that his friends were sleeping soundly down below. He reached his spot beside the chimney with a cautious final step and slumped down against it. As always, the view was worth any of the difficulties that would present themselves on the way up.For the first night since their arrival, the Anúr Lights were shimmering gladly in the deep blackness above.
As Tren watched, he couldn't help but wonder how things would go for Duran the next day. The dagon and his friends had decided to split the move into three parts, with Duran calling on the aid of his fellow guards, Tyle and Ansa, to carry the bulk of their belongings over to Vastadia for the first journey. This would be followed by a second trip for Duran, who - after completing his new duties as a bodyguard for the royals of the kingdom - would return to Glision and take Talla and Tren with him to their new home.
Finally, while at the market the day before, Duran had taken the chance to hire a wagon that would bring over the largest of their possessions; the bed frames, mattresses, tables, and drawers. Anything and everything that was too cumbersome for the dragons to carry in flight was to be packed and carted off to Vastadia by the end of the week.
The plan seemed sound in theory, but now that the day was upon him, Tren was starting to feel a little uneasy...The following morning was as hectic as could be. Both Duran and Tren had forced themselves up before the sun had risen from it's sleeping place behind the mountains. Even Talla emerged from her slumber a little earlier than usual.
The dragon guards, Tyle and Ansa, arrived soon after everything was prepared for them. Like Duran, Ansa was a strong, big-boned dragon, easily a foot taller than most his age. Tyle, on the other hand, was several feet shorter, with bright, eager eyes and an air of youthful energy about him. While Ansa's scales were a dull bronze, like aged armour, Tyle's were a vibrant shade of turquoise, as were his eyes.
