Scarlet gets home, and her guilt is paramount. Cam needs to know what happened.
The man in question is sitting on the sofa with his feet up and the TV on. Seeing Scarlet he gets up to embrace her.
Before he does Scarlet stops him.
"What's the matter babe?" He asks.
"Cam, sit. I must tell you something."
They both curled up on the sofa facing each other.
"Cam, I saw Clark at the bar when I met Charlotte."
"Are you ok, did he do anything?"
"Please don't interrupt Cam. Let me finish first please." Scarlet asks. Then continues to let Cam know what happened.
Cam was hurt, she could see the pain in his eyes.
"Do you still love him?" he asked.
Scarlet thought for a minute before replying.
"I honestly don't know. He meant a lot to me. However, we were not together long. I think I feel for him, but the trust has gone, and the hurt is raw."
"I understand babe. I really do. The love I have for you will overcome the pain you feel, and hopefully one day you will be able to feel as I do."
"I already care for you Cam. You are who I want, and that isn't changing."
Cam pulled Scarlet in for a hug then.
"I forgive you Scar. I can't lose you."
They proceeded to comfort each other. Cam feeling the guilt more now. He needed to tell her who he really is and what part he played in the demise of the relationship between Clark and his love. But not this night.
The next morning, Scarlet decided to seek out Clark. They needed to get their heads together and put things behind them, so she could move forward with Cam.
Arriving at Antony's place, Scarlet realised that she didn't know if Clark still lived there. He was looking to move when they were together.
Before she could decide what to do, a giggling Charlotte came through the door and almost bumped into Scarlet.
"Oh, sorry babe. I didn't see you." Charlotte blushing as she apologises to Scarlet.
Anthony is hot on her heels, grabbing her and pulling Charlotte back inside before calling out to Scarlet.
"He is inside Scar. Come in and head to the kitchen." Anthony disappears then with Charlotte screaming as he lifts her over his shoulder and takes her away.
Walking into the kitchen, Scarlet sees Clark making a coffee. He looks over when her heels click on the floor tiles. Looking up he smiles wide at her.
"I thought I heard Ant say your name. Come in. Coffee?"
"Please." She replied.
"Not that I mind seeing you, but what brings you here?" Clark inquires.
"I think we need to talk and clear the air. Hopefully we can both get closure and move on with our lives. Maybe even become friends, or at least be civil in passing."
Clark looks at Scarlet then. His heart breaking again. She wants to move on, without him.
"Scar, I want you in my life." He says, while thinking of something, anything to keep her in his life. Giving himself time to win her heart again.
"I messed up as your man, but I will not as a friend. Let me try to be that for you."
Scarlet was unsure. Can they really be friends after what they were to each other? Part of her knew it was a bad idea, the other part wanted him in her life again.
"Ok. We can try." She tells him.
"But we need to talk about everything that happened, to move forward."
Clark proceeded to tell Scarlet everything. Why he thought she was seeing other men and what his ex, made him believe. Everything he said coincided with the information they had.
"Who was the man, Scar?" Clark asks.
"I never found out. Maybe she paid him? The information said he was Glenda's man. But it isn't important now." Scarlet replied.
"We know the important stuff, and I do not want revenge. I just want to forget and move on."
Clark agrees. They talk about their lives and business. Scarlet tells Clark about the new store. He is happy for her. He tells her about the place he bought and is doing up, and that he is staying at Anthony's while it is getting refurbed and fixed up.
They move to the lounge, where they continue the conversation. Occasionally Anthony and Charlotte emerge for a drink.
Time runs away from the pair. Before they know it, the day has passed. Clark ordered food and they carried on chatting into the night.
Scarlet forgot about Cam and her searches that she needed to do for items needed in the shop. Luckily Cam was busy at work. Clark was supposed to be using the day to find labourers to assist with the building he bought. His dad had given him a few days off while Clark was not needed. Scarlet hadn't even noticed Clark was in jeans and an old t-shirt.
He would do it all the next day. He was enjoying the time with Scarlet, who suddenly remembered what she was supposed to be doing.
"Clark, I must go. I was supposed to do loads today for my store. I have to find items and someone to help with painting and everything else."
Clark then had a great idea.
"I can help. Today I was supposed to be meeting workers at my place. Starting the refit. I messaged them just after you arrived to meet me tomorrow instead. Would you want to meet them? Maybe they will know someone who can fit you in? I can also help you look online tonight for bits and pieces."
"I am so sorry Clark. I have kept you from your project. I wondered why you wasn't heading to the office."
"My dad gave me time off. I don't have clients yet, so it is the perfect time. As soon as I do, I will not have much time to myself."
Scarlet thinks for a minute before deciding that it is a good idea.
"Alright. Get your laptop. You asked for it. I just need to message Cam."
Clark cringed at the name. But he was happy that he'd have more time with Scarlet.
Scarlet knew it was a bad idea, but she couldn't help herself. Being around Clark felt natural to her. Even after all the time apart.
Friends. Can they really be that now?
