Cam was working in his office, yet he wasn't doing much work. His mind kept wandering to Scarlet.

Did he do the right thing in telling her? Should he have told her sooner? Would she ever forgive him and let him give her the life she deserved?

Before he could debate all those things, his assistant knocked on his door.

"Sorry to disturb you, but you said no calls, so I knocked. There is a solicitor here that says it is urgent. A Mr Clark?"

Cam knew that this would happen. Not this soon, however.

"Let him in. also, no calls usually means no disturbance at all. Remember for next time, ok?" He asks the Assistant.

"Sorry." She replies before opening the door for Clark.

As soon as the door closes, Clark storms over to Cam, who just stands there, waiting for the inevitable.

Clark strikes Cam in the jaw, and then the stomach before Cam stops him.

"You got a free couple of shots, that I deserved. Now let me talk."

Clark still fuming sits down and waits.

"Ok. Clark, I am sorry for what I did. When I knew the truth, the manipulation stopped. I was too late. Maybe I could have told you as soon as I knew, but all I could think about was Scarlet. Needing to get her away from those women and you.

To me, you were a villain as well. You could have easily found out the truth, but you chose to believe fabricated evidence. If you would have waited, there would have been a discussion. But you jumped in bed with that harpy before finding anything out, breaking that beautiful woman's heart into pieces. The only thought I had was to get her out of there. I could have stopped you, and admitted it then, but I really didn't think. How you could have thought Scarlet would do that is beyond me. That amazing person loved you so much. do you know how often she cried over you? How long it took me to get her to leave the room? And when she did, there was never a smile or laughter. You destroyed that big heart of hers, and when she finally let someone in, you come back and try to take it again."

Clark looks at the man in front of him. The truth hurts. He shouldn't have rushed to believe it all back then. He can't change it now, only try to mend what he can.

Standing up, Clark nods, then walks out, knowing that he has a lot to figure out.

Meanwhile Cam picks up his phone, deciding to fight for the woman he loves, and not wait for things to go his way. Scarlet deserves the best, and he will prove that it is him.

When Clark arrived at his office, it was surprisingly quiet. His secretary smiles and informs him,

"They are all at a retreat with some new clients. I was told to tell you that the client who is meeting you didn't want to go, so you must see her here. Very particular in what she wants apparently. Your farther was adamant that it be you whom she sees."

"A bit strange do you not think, Grace?" Clark asks her.

"A little, yes." She admits.

Clark enters his office and relaxes at his desk. There are a lot of things he needs to go through for the meeting. The Lady in question is from old money. Her firm is looking to purchase a line of businesses and they need us to make sure everything is above board. They are looking at a lot of money, so it needs to be handled well. His farther needs him to get her on board, she has the majority vote. It is between their firm and another that are fighting for the deal.

Her family name is Doumont. Ms Serene Doumont. She is divorced. Her husband was a famous something, he isn't anymore, as she ruined him when he slept with his accountant. That man was ruined also. It is a dangerous family, and he really doesn't want to deal with them, but it is his father's firm, so Clark must play along. Ms Doumont is still young. At 40 she has no children, choosing Dogs instead. Her brothers all have heirs. They would be with on the retreat. His farther usually takes them to a private casino that he owns. A great place to shmooze them. Two o'clock on the dot, Grace buzzes Clark letting him know the potential client has arrived.

He stands as she enters.

Not at all what he expected. Ms Doumont is stunning. Her face wrinkle free and white as snow. Her long black hair is strait and sits just below her shoulders. When she gets closer to shake his hand, Clark notices that she has a small spray of freckles over her nose. Her eyes are Hazel and warm, with a large genuine dimpled smile lighting them up more.

He expected an air of arrogance, which there was not. Her black tailored trousers were smart with a delicate silk blouse and flat sandals. She was tall with curves that were hugged by the blouse.

She was confident, but not aggressive.

"Ms Doumont, how lovely to meet you." He addressed her.

"Please call me Serene. Can I call you Clark?" She replied.

The meeting went well. This woman did not seem the type to ruin anybody. You could even call her sweet, almost kind.

"Right Clark, this seems like a good fit. You are as professional as your farther stated. You have not taken advantage of my kindness or showed any disrespect. You have not underestimated me either. This is exactly what I wanted. You have also kept your eyes above my chest, which hasn't gone unnoticed. I want to work with a professional that wont hit on me every chance he gets."

Clark replies with honesty.

"Serene, you are stunning, I will not lie. But I am very much taken. In fact, I am trying to win back the love of my life. Nobody compares to her I'm afraid."

"That is great. Not that you lost her, but the fact you have no interest in me is. We can work together. But know this, I am not as sweet as you think. Many have underestimated me, I was bought up to act like a lady, but a Devil if you cross me."

A dark look then flits through her, making those hazel eyes darken.

Clark nods, knowing that he is going to like working with this woman. He did worry that his farther wanted him to try and seduce Serene. But it seems his dad actually has faith in him. he would never do anything to hurt Scarlet again, so he was willing to lose his job if that's what would have been wanted of him.

They said there goodbyes then and Clark decides to message his father, letting him know it went well.

Feeling good for the first time in ages, he orders himself food and makes a plan. He needs Scarlet. Living without her was not something he could imagine. Clark was prepared to do anything. He just had to figure out what would win her over.
