"Well, you could look a little happy to see me, frati."
The woman whose name seemed to be Vittoria, stood in front of us with a playful pout on her lips and a hand on her hip. "After all, I flew from home just to come see you."
I stared at her in confusion, and Terenzio sighed, rubbing his face. He made no move to remove himself from my side. Instead, he tightened his grip around my waist, and I felt a bit uneasy. I felt like moving away from him just so he didn't have to be embarrassed by being seen with me.
"You could've called me, Vittoria," Terenzio stated, but there was nothing but love in his eyes at the woman before him as she walked closer and closer to us. "But I guess there's nothing I can do about it. In fact, it's a good thing you're here," He smirked and Vittoria tilted her head.
She was such a beautiful woman, and I felt completely inferior in her presence. I just got to feeling normal in the presence of Terenzio, and it felt like all of that progress just went to shambles.
I twiddled my thumbs, swallowing the knot of anxiety that was stuck in my throat. Vittoria raised a brow, motioning to the men in black behind her, and I watched as one of the men shut the door. "Why's that? You're usually never this happy to see me."
Terenzio looked down at me with a far gaze in his grey eyes, and a glorious tooth-filled smile graced his face. "I want you to meet someone," He tore his attention away from me and back to her. Her eyes widened noticeably. "This is Kieran Strong," I held out my hand for her to shake. "Kieran, this is Vittoria Mazzi, my younger sister. She's around a year or two older than you."
A wave of relief washed over my heart as I grasped her hand, watching as she scanned me from head to toe, a look of discerning in her eyes. "This is the Kieran you wouldn't shut up about?" She raised a brow, and Terenzio nodded in confirmation.
I went to ask what she meant by that, but all of a sudden, a big smile morphed her whole face, and she pulled me into a big hug. "Oh my god, oh my god, it's so good to meet you, Kieran! We're going to be the best of friends! You have no idea how happy I am to meet you," The smell of lilies invaded my nostrils as she hugged me tightly.
I grimaced slightly as I reluctantly hugged her back. I didn't want to be rude, and she wasn't doing much to make me uncomfortable.
"...and why are you so happy to see me?" I questioned in a small voice as the hug was released. "My big bro rarely takes to people! He's such a stickler for work, always saying that he's too busy for friends, let alone relationships, so I'm so happy to know that he's met you." Her words sounded sincere, but I felt as if it was too early to judge.
He and I had just met a couple of weeks ago.
Surely, much more time was needed, right?
"Ah, it's nice to meet you as well," I rubbed my cheek, feeling awfully shy. "You're so handsomeee~" Vittoria mused with a pout, her eyes glazing over my face. "I see why Terry is so taken with you."
I blinked at her, not knowing what she meant by that. However, Terenzio felt my uncomfortableness, and came to save the day. "Avert your eyes," He muttered with a curt glare.
"To answer your question from earlier, I had my most trusted man pick up his younger sister, Karsyn," He motioned to the girl sitting on the couch, going to town on her food. "From school."
Vittoria blinked owlishly, the behavior reminding me of someone I knew too well. "You have a younger sister? Oh my, she's adorable!!" She gushed as she ran over to where my sister was sitting.
"Hi, I'm Karsyn Strong. Nice to meet you, big sis," I narrowed my eyes at my sister, wondering what the fuck she was possessed by. She was never so taken with people this quickly, let alone going so far as to call them big sis.
