tw: mentions of past war events <3

Aurelia woke up to light filtering through her partly-open curtains. It was dawn. Far too early to be awake. She groaned as she forced herself to sit up, glancing around. She must have forgotten to close her curtains the previous night- now she was paying the price. Aurelia opened her bedroom door, quietly making her way to the bathroom to splash her face with cold water. She glanced at her reflection- circular, rimmed glasses, deep brown eyes, dark teal highlights in her extremely messy hair...

She sighed as she made her way down to the kitchen, where a couple sheets of unfinished homework lay from last night. Aurelia groaned again- something else she had forgotten. At least it was Sunday, she had a whole day to do it. God, she didn't want to, though. Aurelia heard the sound of soft footsteps and she turned to see Violet, her younger sister standing there. "Hi, Aurelia! Why is it so dark?" The young girl asked, rubbing her eyes. Aurelia chuckled softly.

"It's really early. Nathan and Imogen are still asleep. So can you be quiet for a bit? I can put something on the TV if you'd like..." She suggested. She knew that her sister loved watching cartoons. Violet nodded, her eyes shining with  excitement. "Yes! Yes! There's this dinosaur show I want you to see!" The five-year-old tugged on Aurelia's  hand gently, beaming.

Aurelia laughed quietly again. "Alright, you little ball of energy," She ruffled her sister's hair. "Let's go." She let Violet lead her into the lounge room, the young girl reaching for the TV remote on a high shelf, too short to grab it, however.

Aurelia grabbed the remote for her, smiling softly. "Here you go, Vi." She watched as Violet turned on the TV and switched it to channel 22. It was playing some sort of cartoon with lots of different dinosaurs.

As Aurelia tried to pay attention to show, since her sister was so awfully excited about it, she couldn't help but feel... a weird sort of feeling. The T-rex? Everything felt wrong about it. She couldn't help but imagine it with feathers- bright-coloured feathers covering its' body. Aurelia rolled her eyes at her stupid fantasization. She constantly had dreams like this- it was absolutely idotic.

It was a relief when the show ended and Aurelia could escape off to the kitchen to do some of her homework. It was History- she would have to do some digging around in her textbook. If she could find it, that was.

Aurelia sighed. Not only was she incredibly clumsy, but she also had a habit of losing things. It would be expected to be the opposite, with her having photographic memory, but then again...Aurelia was Aurelia.

A quiet ping came from her phone, laying face down on the kitchen table. Aurelia reached for it, recognising a text message from one of her friends, Stella.

YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHO JUST TEXTED ME!!

Aurelia couldn't help but chuckle at her friend's enthusiasm. Who had texted her at 6am?

I don't think I ever could, who texted u?

The response came rather quickly- it was clear Stella was excited.

JAMIE HOLLANDS! U know, THE Jamie! The captain of the soccer team!!

Aurelia tilted her head slightly, surprised. She knew her friend had the biggest crush on Jamie Hollands- an overly-athletic student in the grade above them- and she was pretty shocked that he had reached out to her.

That's awesome! What'd he say!?

Just a simple 'heyy'. Two y's. HOW DO I RESPOND, LIA!?

Calm down, calm down.
'Heyyy' will come off 2 strong. 'Heyy' will be copying him.
Just do a simple 'hey'.

Are u sure it'll be enough?
