The bus ride to the training facility was filled with a mix of excitement and nervous chatter. Nagi, sitting next to Bakugou, absentmindedly glanced out the window, his mind wandering until he heard Uraraka's voice cut through the buzz of conversation.
"Deku? Why are you wearing your PE clothes? Where's your costume at?" she asked, her curiosity piqued. Nagi looked up from his spot beside Bakugou, noting how the blonde's ears twitched at the question. For the first time, Nagi noticed the small hearing aids nestled in Bakugou's ears. Smiling softly, he signed 'You okay?' to Bakugou. The blonde smirked and nodded, his eyes drifting back to the window.
Midoriya, or Deku as he was known to his friends, scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "You saw it after the combat training. It was kinda trashed. I'm still waiting on the support company to fix it up," he explained with a small, embarrassed smile.
Asui, better known as Tsu, suddenly spoke up, her eyes fixed on Midoriya. "There's something I wanna say... about you, actually."
Nagi's attention shifted to Tsu, one of the few girls in class he genuinely paid attention to due to her intelligence and quiet demeanor. "About me? What is it, Asui?" Midoriya asked, his confusion evident.
"I told you to call me 'Tsu,'" she corrected, her face as impassive as ever.
"Oh. Yeah, right," Midoriya mumbled, clearly flustered.
"That power of yours. Isn't it a lot like All Might's?" Tsu asked, her straightforward question making Midoriya yelp in surprise.
"What? Really? You think so, huh?" Midoriya stammered, trying to play it off with a nervous smile. "I never really thought about that. I guess it's kinda similar..."
Kirishima, who had been listening intently, chimed in with a grin. "Wait, hold on, Tsu. You're forgetting All Might doesn't hurt himself. That makes a huge difference."
Nagi's focus shifted to Kirishima, his gaze lingering on the redhead's sharp, shark-like teeth. "Still, I bet it's cool to have a simple augmenting-type Quirk. You can do lots of flashy stuff with it. My Hardening's super strong and can destroy bad guys in a fight, but it doesn't look all that impressive," Kirishima continued, his tone a mix of pride and resignation.
"Oh, no way, I think it's really awesome looking. You're definitely pro material with a Quirk like that," Midoriya assured him, and for once, Nagi found himself agreeing wholeheartedly with the green-haired boy.
"You really think so?" Kirishima asked, a blush creeping up his cheeks. Even from a distance, Nagi found the redhead's bashfulness endearing.
"Seems like it'd be easier to be a popular hero if I had somethin' flashier," Kirishima said, his smile tinged with self-deprecation.
"My Navel Laser's got the perfect combination of panache and strength," Aoyama interjected, striking a dramatic pose.
Mina laughed, quick to bring him back down to earth. "But it's way lame if it gives you a stomachache, sweetie."
"Well, if any of our classmates have pro Quirks, it's Todoroki, Nagi, and Bakugou," someone remarked, making Nagi blush slightly at the unexpected compliment.
"Sure, but Bakugou's always angry, so he'll never be that popular," Kaminari added, snickering.
"What'd you say? I'll kick your ass!" Bakugou growled, starting to rise from his seat. Nagi quickly grabbed Bakugou's hip, gently but firmly pulling him back down.
"See? Y'know, we basically just met you. So it's kinda telling that we all know your personality is flaming crap mixed with garbage," Kaminari teased, causing Nagi to burst into laughter.
