Nagi couldn't get a break, here he was wide awake in the dead of night looking up at the pitch-black sky outside of his window, the worst part? It was the night before the hero's entrance exam. He felt like chucking himself out of the window just to make a point. Sleep had always been a struggle for him,
His father used to soothe him when he'd wake up crying in the middle of the knight wanted to be held. But his mum? Shed just ignored him that was until he could understand words then she would call him selfish, though deep down he knew she cared about him at some point.
Despite the anxiety he was feeling, Nagi pulled the blankets closer to him. He was going to start a new chapter, make his dad proud of him no matter what, and make his mum see him for how strong he was and not for how useless she saw him. Because he would try as hard as he could to be up to her level, he wanted to make himself worth something to her, not just something she looked at in hate,
As Nagi dragged himself out of bed, he carved just a single Liter worth of coffee to kickstart his day. The smell of the coffee made him think of his dad, strong and comforting, like home it made Nagi feel a lump in this thought he missed his dad so much it hurt.
His father was a doctor, and an orthopaedic surgeon, with the unique quirk to manipulate human bones. His skills had earned him the respect of hospitals all over the world. Nagi admired his dad's dedication and talent, but above all, he just missed having him around the home. He missed waking up and seeing his tall father stand making breakfast for both.
After wolfing down some eggs on toast, Nagi got ready for the exams, feeling the nerves kick in. He wasn't your typical bulky hero type - more on the lean and tall side - but he was determined to show what he was made of.
As he stepped out of his house and locked the door, he heard someone call out behind him. Turning around, he saw a guy with spiky hair holding out his wallet. Nagi's wallet was nothing fancy, just plain black leather, but it was clear this guy had picked it up for him.
"Cheers," Nagi said, taking back his wallet. But before he could say anything else, the guy just brushed him off and walked away. Curious, Nagi decided to tag along.
Walking beside him, Nagi couldn't help but notice the guy's bright red eyes and bored expression. "You headed to the exams too?" Nagi asked, trying to strike up a conversation. All he got was a scoff in return.
But Nagi wasn't about to give up. He kept walking, earning a glance from the guy. "You're short," Nagi teased with a chuckle. It was meant to be light-hearted, but it seemed to hit a nerve.
The guy stopped dead in his tracks, his expression turning fierce. "WHAT DID YOU SAY?!" he practically yelled, making Nagi jump back in surprise.
Trying to smooth things over, Nagi flashed a grin. "Ah, nothing," he said casually, hoping to lighten the mood. "I'm Nagi, by the way," he added, extending a hand.
The guy just looked at him in response. "Bakugou," he replied shortly, offering no further explanation. Despite the rocky start, Nagi couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to this encounter than met the eye.
Once they entered the school grounds Nagi walked with bakagou to the lecture theatre, the blond just ignored him, as they walked in, they were assigned to sit before given further instructions.
Nagi was struggling to keep his eyes open. The rock-like hero at the front of the room was talking about the exam, but Nagi could barely focus. The only thing Nagi focussed on was His outfit it seemed practical enough, with all that leather and denim, but all Nagi could think about was finding a way to sneak in a quick nap.
