The first burst of color exploded overhead painting night sky in dazzling array of hues. Obanai couldn't help but let his gaze be drawn skyward. His breath caught in his throat at sheer beauty of the display.

Beside him, (Y/N)'s eyes were wide with wonder. Their features aglow in the shifting light. Obanai stole a glance at them. He was captivated by way fireworks seemed to dance across their face.

"It's... incredible" (Y/N) breathed. Their voice barely audible over the thunderous crackle of fireworks.

Obanai nodded, his own words eluding him. In face of such magnificence. He had never experienced anything quite like this. The sights the sounds, the palpable energy of the crowd. It was all so overwhelming yet strangely captivating.

"I've never seen anything like this before," (Y/N) continued. Their gaze still trained on sky. "It's almost... magical in a way."

Obanai contemplated their words. His mind drifting back to the solitary life he had led as Demon Slayer. The vast majority of his existence had been consumed by relentless pursuit of duty. With little room for simple pleasures of life.

"Do you..." (Y/N) hesitated. Their voice taking on more thoughtful tone. "Do you ever wish you could just... escape, for a while?"
Obanai felt a pang of understanding resonate within him. He knew all too well the weight of burdens they carried. The constant vigilance required to maintain their way of life.

"Sometimes" he admitted. His voice barely above a whisper. "But... it's not that simple, is it?"

(Y/N) nodded their expression somber. "No, it's not. The duty we've taken on the sacrifices we've made – they're not something we can just set aside, even for moment." Obanai felt a profound sense of kinship with (Y/N) in that instant.

A shared understanding of heavy mantle they bore. It was a burden that few could truly comprehend. A weight that threatened to consume them if they weren't careful.
"But..." (Y/N) paused. Their gaze shifting to meet Obanai's. "Maybe just for tonight, we can allow ourselves to... indulge a little. To remember there's more to life than just our duty."

Obanai hesitated his instincts urging him to maintain distance. But as another burst of color exploded overhead. He felt a rare sense of wonder and excitement stir within him.

"Yes," he murmured his own lips curving into faintest of smiles. "Just for tonight."

Together, they watched the fireworks dance across the sky. Their responsibilities momentarily forgotten. They allowed themselves to be swept up in the magic of the moment. Vibrant bursts of color continued to fill the night sky painting the town in dazzling array of light and sound. Obanai found himself captivated by sheer beauty of the fireworks display. His eyes transfixed as each explosive shattered into a thousand sparkling fragments.

Beside him, (Y/N)'s eyelids began to grow heavy. The fatigue of their patrol finally catching up with them. Obanai glanced over. A small smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he watched (Y/N) struggle to stay awake.

"You should rest" he murmured, his voice barely audible over the thunderous crackle of the fireworks

(Y/N) tried to protest. Their words slurring slightly. "No I'm... I'm fine," they insisted their head bobbing with each passing second.

Obanai chuckled softly the sound barely escaping his lips. Carefully, he guided (Y/N) to a nearby bench. He gently urged them to sit down. "It's alright" he said. His tone soothing. "I'll keep watch."

(Y/N) nodded. Their eyes already fluttering shut as their body succumbed exhaustion. Obanai watched as they slowly leaned to the side. Their head coming to rest on his shoulder.

A faint blush crept across Obanai's cheeks. His heartbeat quickened ever so slightly at the unexpected contact. He held himself perfectly still, not wanting to disturb (Y/N)'s much-needed rest.

As fireworks continued to burst overhead Obanai found himself transfixed by dancing lights. His gaze occasionally drifting down to the sleeping figure beside him. There was a strange sense of calm that washed over him. A rare moment of respite from constant demands of their duty.

Carefully, he reached up and gently brushed stray lock of hair from (Y/N)'s face. His touch feather-light. In that moment Obanai felt profound sense of protectiveness wash over him. A desire to shield this person who had effortlessly breached walls he had so carefully constructed.

With soft sigh he settled back against a bench. His eyes were once again drawn skyward. Tonight, at least he would allow himself to indulge in this small moment of peace. He savored the warmth of (Y/N)'s presence beside him.
