Time until autumn's due date was drawing ever closer. It was only a month away! Everyone in the nursery could see autumn struggling, and although she'd never admit it, she could use a rest. Some of these parents were really pressing her buttons. The pregnancy hormones were playing a part in bringing out her softer side, though. After a few days of the staff witnessing Autumn in an obvious state of unease, it was finally time for the manager and her lover to convince her to take her maternity leave and prepare for their baby's arrival.
Marjorie's POV:
"My love, don't you think it's finally time for you to take your mat leave? You need to rest up and prepare for little one." Marjorie glanced over at her colleague, who was typing away at her desk. "Marjorie, I'm fine. I can continue working" Autumn replied nonchalantly. "Can you though? Be honest with yourself Autumn. You need to take a break. Myself, winter and the rest of the staff only want the best for you." I pleaded.
Winter's POV:
As I was approaching the office with some paperwork for Marjorie, I heard my darling having a conversation with her friend. "Hello Marjorie, my darling, I have that paperwork you requested."
"Thank you Winter. Actually, can you help me with something? This one over here is refusing to go on her mat leave, despite the fact that we can all clearly see she needs it" Marjorie queried. I knew exactly what marjorie was referring to. Autumn is definitely struggling, and has thankfully let her walls down and confided in me.
"My love, please listen to Marjorie. The due date is coming closer by the minute, and the last thing that we want is for you to be under any stress." I could practically see the cogs turning in her head, contemplating our request. I know that she doesn't want to let anyone down, and being out of office for a few months and relaxing is new territory for her.
Autumn's POV:
If I am being completely honest with myself, I would love to take the time off. I am doing everything in my power to protect this baby; they're my pride and joy and I've not even met them. Usually, I would be inclined to persist and decline their offers of me leaving the office, but since I am in fact 7 months pregnant, and my hormones were all over the place, I couldn't help but submit to Winter's deep blue eyes that were so full of love and desperation to make me comfortable. His eyes always told a thousand stories, and were my greatest sort of comfort.
"Okay. I'll finish up this last report then we can be off my love. Thank you both"
Winter's POV:
"Splendid! I will let you finish up here, and tell Charlotte know that I will be out of action for the day, then we can get going! Thanks again, Marjorie"
With Autumn finally accepting the help she so desperately needs, the happy couple made their way to Winter's car where he took them home, but not without a pit stop to the local coffee parlour for Autumn's iced coffee and red velvet muffin - her current favourite caving. The look of perplexion which transcended into pure love and adoration for her sweet was everything Winter needed to call the day a roaring success.
