She's my home - Lauren James

I loved Christmas, I truly did. The joys of London being covered in the lights and the first snow of the year truly entranced me.
Every Christmas reminded me of everything I've done to get to where I am. From being in foster homes and using football as my escape, to football being the reason as to why I can even live in the city I dreamed of all my Childhood.

Christmas is the one time of the year in which I truly feel happy, from waking up to going to sleep everything is joyous.
Some believe that id hate Christmas as I don't really have a family. But I do. I have Lauren.

"hey can you help me put this up?" I asked my girlfriend as she lifted me up to the top of our tree as I placed on the star.

As she let me down I breathed out a soft sigh as I stepped back to see our living room completely adorned with the lights.
"it's beautiful isn't it" said my lauren as she put her arm around my waist staring at my face.
"yes. Yes it is!" I replied to her as I turned towards her.

Within seconds we heard the doorbell ring.
"That must be the girls!" Lauren said excitedly as she ran to the door letting in Niamh, Aggie, Maya, Alessia and Tooney.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS!!" screeched Aggie as she ran to hug me.
"merry christmas aggs" I replied as everyone sat down to watch all our Christmas movies on our list and to complete our secret santa. p

"PRESENT TIMEEEEE" shouted Tooney as she giggled awaiting her gift.
"okay okay chill out there girl we'll do it now" replied Lessi giving her best mate a slightly dirty look and I couldn't help laughing.

I loved our group. Even if we aren't all at the same club, we clicked immediately at our first england camp together. These girls were my Family. My home.

As we opened our gifts, the delight in Tooney was obvious as she opened up her brand new NERF guns from Aggie, as she passed a massive lego set to lauren. Great now i'm gonna have to deal with lego rage for the next week!!

About 6 Hours later, all the girls had left the house after gobbing down every piece of food in our whole apartment as they left for their houses.

"it's Christmas!" I told Lauren as the clock striked 12. Immediately she got up and got something from behind the tree. She pulled out two bags and passed me one. We were watching harry potter in this moment and as I opened the bag, that scene came on. Her timing was impeccable.

We put the jumpers on, mine was a dark green with my initial on it, and she had a dark blue one with a big L on the middle.

"I love you Lauren James." I told her as I stared deeply into her eyes.
"I love you more y/n. Forever." she said interlocking fingers with me.

Just in that moment. As if the timing could be any better, it began to snow. Not too soft, but not too strong. The first snow of the year.

Within minutes Lauren and I were outside playing in the snow as people flocked the streets under the christmas lights and snow.

Who needs family? I have her. She's my home.
