Nadia

When daylight came, I couldn't help but feel mortified about my arousing dream. I always tried to be careful with my feelings. But I've never experienced such an intense rush like this. I never attached myself to one person. I was just given money and gifts and infatuated vows from a sugar daddy.

When I got up that morning. I checked the door to see if any red envelopes were nearby. But nothing was sent to me. I won't lie, I was a little disappointed, but maybe it was a good thing that I didn't receive anything yet.

When Cassandra woke up, I was sure that was going to confront her about any little wanton noises from last night. However, when I saw she had a little pep in her step as she walked in with Jewel in her arms, I realized that she was completely clueless as to what happened.

"Good morning~!"

I smile shyly, "good morning. How did you sleep?"

Cassandra sigh, clearly relaxed. "Like a bear hibernating during winter. I didn't really think taking the night shift would take a toll on my body, but here I am."

I couldn't help but laugh at Cassandra. Her free spirit, witty remarks, and real, down to earth personality was what made me adore her. I knew I could count on her to be the life of the party or the logical person to snap me out of my stupor. I was thankful for Cassandra being in my life everyday.

Cassandra sets Jewel down in the floor and walks further into the kitchen. "Need help with anything?"

I hum in thought as I looked around the kitchen. "Wanna make the waffles?"

Cassandra's chocolate brown eyes widen with excitement. "Hell yeah I do! I could do pancakes as well."

"Oooo~. That actually sounds hella good, too."

The two of us soon get to work in the kitchen. Laughter and jokes filling the safe space. It was the first time in a while that I was able to enjoy anything other than writing to my stalker. This little moment with my best friend was what I needed.

"Okay okay. So, the guy who's been seeing you...what's he like", I ask.

Cassandra hums, downing the last bit of her mimosa before setting it down on the dazzling marble coffee table in the living room. "I mean, I don't see him all the time so I can't really say. But he's been really nice to me."

"Just nice~?"

"Nadiaaa. You know I'm not interested in love right now."

I throw my head back and groan. "Bitchhhh. Give him a chance. I wanna see you with someone that makes you happy. You seemed really happy when he dropped you off here. What happened?"

Cassandra shrugs, "I mean we just drove. He picked me up from work and he had a late night drive since I wasn't ready to go home. It was very relaxing. We kinda vibed together."

"Aww~, y'all sound so cute together."

"Don't even", Cassandra whines.

Cassandra falls onto my lap dramatically. I relished in the way my fingers glided through her silky curls. Cassandra stared at the 86 inch tv that was in the wall. A boring commercial playing. She then cuts her eyes away and sighs. "Y'know I'm just careful after what happened to me four years ago."

She remembers how Cassandra's last boyfriend mistreated her. Played with her emotions and blaming any little thing on her. He was an arrogant, manipulative bastard. Not wanting to take accountability yet wanted to call Cassandra and anyone else on "their bullshit". And the final blow was him cheating.

I could've killed him that night. However, I do enjoy my freedom.

"Well, I do understand the hesitancy", I reply. "Howeverrr~, I do hope you give this guy a chance."
