The Fabulous Spec-Fic SmackDown

A SmackDown is a prompt based competitive writing challenge that started way back when Wattpad still had forums — since those nebulous days, SmackDowns have become a solid tradition.

For those who never joined one before and wonder how this works:

🔨 A SmackDown is a flash fiction contest over several rounds

🔨 Each round, the stories are judged by an anonymous judging team

🔨 Each round, part of the writers will be eliminated from the contest

🔨 Writing is prompt based — participants get assigned one or several prompts each round that must be integrated into their short story

🔨 The last remaining writer will be declared the winner, will earn the all important bragging rights, a weird sticker for their cover, and the illustrious title of SmackDown Champion.

Interested? Why not join in the party? We guarantee a lot of fun, an amazing team, and the finest selection of incredulous prompts.

You have one month to signal your interest by submitting a qualifying story. Qualifying stories won't be judged — but they are your free ticket into a world of fun, exciting, and ruthless flash fiction writing alongside an illustrious writer's community.

Your qualifying entry must be between 300 and 600 words long, be written in English, and be inspired by this picture

And since this is The Fabulous Spec-Fic SmackDown™️, you're free to pick the genre you want to write in for the qualifier, as long as your story counts as speculative fiction

And since this is The Fabulous Spec-Fic SmackDown™️, you're free to pick the genre you want to write in for the qualifier, as long as your story counts as speculative fiction.

As for speculative fiction, it unites subgenres like fantasy, science fiction, horror, alternate history and more. It thus is an encompassing genre that freely explores possibility and impossibility alike.

The SmackDown will be run from our sister profile LayethTheSmackDownSubmission window for the qualifiers closes Sunday, July 28th 2024.

You can find the link to the submission form and all further instructions in the SmackDown Book on their profile. Please follow the link in the inline comment here >>>>>
