The monster bellowed and charged toward me at full speed.
I sidestepped quickly and avoided his razor-sharp horns for the fourth time in a row.
'It's quite fast, considering his bulky frame'.
As far as I can recall, the minotaur's sight and hearing are terrible so, he goes by smell. Moreover, he can't change directions while charging. So, his attack patterns were easily predictable.
With my agility and stamina, I can easily outmaneuver him. But since I didn't have a celestial bronze weapon, it was almost impossible to kill him.
Almost.
Looking around, I realized that we were completely alone in the woods. Grover was still unconscious back in the car. Even if I drag this out, I doubt anyone would show up to help us. In that case, I should end this as quickly as possible.
My dark brown eyes started to glow golden.
I felt a familiar strength coursing through my body and veins, as a faint golden aura surrounded me. This much should be more than enough, I thought, based on my previous experiences.
After another bellow of rage, the bull-man lowered his head and was ready to charge again. But before he could, I disappeared from his field of vision in a blur.
Reappearing mid-air, in front of him, I spun around violently and delivered a sharp kick to his face.
The overwhelming force of the blow created a huge shockwave, as the minotaur was sent crashing into the woods, breaking apart tree after tree.
Skidding to a stop, a few meters to my left, the creature groaned, shaking his head and struggling to stand.
I walked up to him. He was sitting on his knees, with one hand on a nearby tree, trying his best to stand straight.
Slowly, I lifted my right hand and closed my fingers around one of his rugged horns.
This should do it
I applied a little force and pulled it towards me.
*Snap*
Before the monster could scream or even react, I drove the broken horn straight into his side, right up under his furry ribcage.
The Beast roared in agony, looking at me with his wide, bloodshot eyes as he flailed, clawing at his chest, before disintegrating in a pile of golden sand, blown away by the wind.
The monster was gone within a matter of seconds and the woods became eerily calm, except for the downpour.
For a moment, I stood there in the rain – looking at the Minotaur horn in my hands with a blank expression.
Among the countless monsters in Greek myths, some have a distinguished reputation and are considered extremely dangerous. The Minotaur was one such creature. Not to mention, I've never faced him before in my life.
But as someone who has slain countless beasts, I would say he was nothing different from the rest. Not to me, at least.
It was effortless, as always.
And just like before, I felt nothing.
No fear. No thrill. No elation
