Before the wedding
The weeks leading up to this day had been a whirlwind of preparations. Billie and I had spent countless hours searching for the perfect dresses. We visited boutique after boutique, trying on gowns that ranged from classic to modern. Finally, I found my dress—a flowing ivory creation that flowed around me like a cloud, with fancy lace detailing the bodice and trailing down my arms. It made me feel like a princess.
Billie's dress was equally breathtaking. She chose a stunning gown of soft blush tulle with delicate embroidery, the color accentuating her warm complexion. The dress had a fitted bodice and a skirt that flowed gracefully, making her look ethereal.
Choosing the venue was another adventure. We wanted a place that felt intimate and romantic, somewhere that would hold the magic of our love. When we first saw the mansion, with its stately architecture and enchanting gardens, we knew it was the one. The mansion's sprawling gardens, filled with vibrant blooms and the sweet scent of roses and jasmine, provided the perfect backdrop for our ceremony.
The wedding cake was the final piece of the puzzle. We spent an afternoon at a charming bakery, sampling flavors and discussing designs with the baker. After much thought, we decided on a towering creation of white fondant adorned with detailed sugar flowers. Each tier was a different flavor—vanilla with raspberry filling, chocolate with hazelnut cream, and lemon with a zesty curd. It was a masterpiece that promised to be as delicious as it was beautiful.
The day of the wedding
The grand mansion stood as a testament to elegance, its stately façade framed by ancient oaks and manicured gardens. Sunlight streamed through the leaves, casting shadows on the cobblestone path that led to the entrance. This was the day Billie and I had dreamed of, the day we would bind our lives together forever.
Inside the mansion, the preparations for the big day were in full swing. The air was filled with the scent of fresh flowers and the sound of soft music playing in the background. My friends bustled about, adjusting decorations and ensuring everything was perfect.
We had chosen a spot in the garden for the ceremony, a place where the blooms were the most vibrant. The garden path was lined with white chairs, each adorned with delicate garlands of flowers. At the end of the aisle, a simple wooden arch stood, draped in flowing white fabric and greenery, a perfect frame for the moment we would say our vows.
Two chairs in the front row stood empty, each with a small plaque on its seat reading, "This seat is reserved in memory of those who would be here today if heaven wasn't so far away." One was a tribute to Kacey, Billie's best friend, who would have been here if life had been kinder. A photo of Kacey, smiling brightly, sat beside a bouquet of her favorite flowers, a reminder of her presence in spirit. The other chair was for my mother, whose loving guidance and strength had shaped me into the person I was today. Her photo, radiant and kind, was placed beside a vase of her favorite lilies, symbolizing her eternal love and support.
As the guests took their seats, my father approached, his face a mixture of pride and emotion. He was walking both me and Billie down the aisle, highlighting how deep our bond is and how accepted our relationship is. Billie and I stood together, hands clasped, as my father positioned himself between us, ready to lead us to our future.
The wedding officiant stood at the arch, a gentle smile on his face as the music began to play. The soft strains of a piano melody filled the air, and we began our walk down the aisle, the moment surreal and beautiful. Our friends watched with tears in their eyes, sharing in our joy.
As we reached the arch, my father gave our hands a final squeeze before stepping back, leaving us to face each other. The officiant spoke with charisma, his words weaving a tapestry of love, commitment, and unity. When it was time for our vows, Billie and I turned to each other, our hearts beating as one.
