Hot shot was in Texas Children's hospital recovering from a sudden cardiac arrest. Hot shot felt pretty weak and feeble. Hot shot had tubes up his nose giving him oxygen. Hot shot was hooked up to machines reading his heart rate and breathing. Hot shot was feeling kind of sick and only ate a little bit of his lunch. But he was able to eat up some orange Jell-o it helped his tummy feel so much better.

Heatwave and Quickshadow took turns spending time with Hot shot in the CICU. Quickshadow was with him and Heatwave was at work.

At the fire house Heatwave was very busy helping out with a few things. A few of the firefighters came up to him. "Yes?" Heatwave said.

"We got a few things for Hot shot," the rookie said. "We know he's in Cook Children's hospital due to having a sudden cardiac arrest due to his heart defects," he said.

The firefighters gave Heatwave presents to give to Hot shot. "Thank you I know Hot shot will be very happy," Heatwave said.

Heatwave soon came home and saw there were packages there. They were for Hot shot and he looked and saw they were from his parents, his sister, his sister's husband, his brother, his brother's wife, his wife's parents, his wife's twin brother, and his wife's older sister. There were even packages from Blades, Boulder and Chase.

Heatwave remembers when he called and told them about Hot shot being hospitalized due to sudden cardiac arrest and needing to be in the hospital for a long time. Dr. Kyle said since Hot shot was pretty weak and struggling with walking and balance and needing surgery he would need to stay at least three and half months. He knew Hot shot was unhappy about it and missing the last three months of Kindergarten and not being able to be with his friends. He hoped these presents would brighten his day.

Then after Heatwave brought the presents inside he heard a knock at the door. It was Hot shot's teacher Ms. Sunrae. "I got some presents and cards for Hot shot from the class," Ms. Sunrae said. "They are all hoping that Hot shot feels better," she said. "They are sad he won't be back in class even on the last day so they all got him presents and made him cards," she said.

"I know this will make Hot shot very happy," Heatwave said. "Hot shot is very sad that he has to stay in the hospital for a while after what happened and needing surgery too once again, but I have a feeling he will feel better knowing that his classmates are thinking of him," he said.

The next day Heatwave brought the presents to Hot shot's room. Hot shot was surprised to see the presents. "Why are there so many presents?" Hot shot asked.

"Because you are here in the hospital and have to be here for a while and about to have another open heart surgery," Quickshadow said. "They are thinking of you," she said.

Hot shot opened the presents to look and see what he got. Hot shot got a Vermont Teddy bear with a heart surgery scar like his. "I love it!" Hot shot said. Hot shot also got a stuffed cownose ray, a stuffed hippo, a stuffed lion, and a stuffed anteater. "Cool," he said. Hot shot also got some puzzles. Hot shot even got some crayons, drawing paper, and coloring books. "Wow," he said. Hot shot got a couple of toy cars. Hot shot got a soft blanket too that had a heart embroidered on it. The heart on the blanket had stich marks and band aids on it. It said Brave Little Heart Warrior that was also embroidered on it. It was made of soft and cuddly yellow fleece with soft red fleece underneath. His aunt Hightemp made it. "Wow it is so soft," he said snuggling with it. He got picture books to explain about his condition. Hot shot was very amazed by what he got.

Hot shot was looking forward to feeling better again. But for now he has to stay in the hospital and get strong again. Hot shot was able to rest and relax in his CICU room. Hot shot was hoping to spend some time in Cardiac in patient floor because there he was allowed to do more things. But before he could go to room there, he had to rebuild some strength and do therapy.

He also knew he was going to have his second surgery in May. Hot shot was going to leave sometime in June. Hot shot wasn't too happy about this.

"Why do I have to stay so long?" Hot shot asked.

"Because you are very weak and sick and having trouble doing somethings after your sudden cardiac arrest," Quickshadow answered. "You need to rest, get stronger and get rehabilitation to be able to do more things again, and to be observed, not mention you have surgery coming up." she said. "I know it's hard but some heart emergencies like cardiac arrest and heart attack you need to stay in the hospital for a while," she said. "But cardiac arrest takes longer to recover from for some people it take take weeks or months or even longer," she said.

"Yikes," Hot shot said.

"But we are here for you son and we love you," Heatwave said.

"Thanks daddy," Hot shot said and pulled his new blanket over himself because he was little bit cold and cuddled with Roxy. "I love my new blanket," he said. "it is nice soft and warm," he said.

"I know Aunt Hightemp will be happy that you like it," Heatwave said. "I hope you tell her that next time you see her or next time she calls," he said.

"I will," Hot shot said.

Then a nurse came in. "Okay Hot shot time for some medicine," the nurse named Tamara said. "You have the medicine you already take along with two new ones you start taking today," she said.

"Okay," Hot shot said.

"Would you like to take them by cup or syringe? Tamara asked.

"Syringe," Hot shot said.

Tamara filled the syringe to the appropriate dose for each medicine. "Okay Hot shot open up," Tamara said.

Hot shot opened his mouth and Tamara squirted the medicine into his mouth after he closed his mouth on the syringe and swallowed the medicine. She repeated the process with the other two medications. Hot shot swallowed the medicine after it was squirted into his mouth. Hot shot was glad that was over.

"You will have to take these medicines at home everyday," Tamara said. "But you must remember never take it unless your parents, grandparents, or any adult who is responsible for you at the time gives it too you," she said.

"Okay," Hot shot said.

Hot shot was able to rest and relax now. It was starting to get late and Hot shot soon went to sleep ready to face this long hospital stay.
