Devashish woke up in a cold sweat, his heart pounding in his chest. The nightmare that haunted him every night had returned, vivid and cruel. He found himself back in his childhood home, the air thick with tension and fear. He could hear his younger brother Reyansh's laughter echoing through the house, a sound that brought him comfort and joy.
But then, the scene shifted. Devashish watched in horror as Reyansh ran towards the edge of a cliff, his innocent face filled with excitement. "Reyansh, stop!" Devashish screamed, but his voice was drowned out by the howling wind.
"Look, Dev Bhai, look how high I can jump!" Reyansh called out, his eyes bright with anticipation. Devashish's heart clenched in fear as he saw Reyansh take a giant leap towards the edge, his small figure suspended in mid-air for a moment that felt like eternity.
In slow motion, Devashish reached out, his hand trembling, desperate to grab hold of Reyansh and pull him to safety. But it was too late. Reyansh's hand slipped from his grasp, and Devashish watched helplessly as his brother leapt into the abyss below. "No, Reyansh, no!" Devashish cried out, his voice breaking with anguish. Tears streamed down his face as he saw Reyansh disappear from view, the sound of his screams echoing in Devashish's ears.
As Devashish stood frozen in shock, his body trembling with guilt and grief, a voice whispered in his ear, "You couldn't save him. It's all your fault." Devashish sank to his knees, overcome with a crushing sense of failure and loss.
In his nightmare, Devashish relived the moment over and over again, each time feeling the weight of his failure press down on him like a heavy burden. "I'm sorry, Reyansh. I'm so sorry," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.
The nightmare finally released its grip on Devashish, leaving him gasping for air, his body drenched in sweat. He clutched his chest, trying to calm his racing heart as he tried to shake off the lingering sense of guilt and sorrow that the nightmare had left behind. But deep down, he knew that the pain of losing Reyansh would always haunt him, a wound that would never fully heal.
As the voices in his head grew louder and more insistent, Devashish felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. His vision blurred and his head spun, the weight of his guilt and grief pressing down on him like a suffocating blanket. And then, with a sickening thud, his head collided with the hard wooden floor, sending a shock of pain shooting through his skull.
The room swirled around him, the voices in his head fading into a distant buzz as darkness closed in around him. Devashish's last conscious thought was of Reyansh's terrified face as he plummeted into the abyss, his screams echoing in Devashish's ears.
When Sonakshi arrived at the cabin, she found Devashish lying unconscious on the floor, blood trickling from a gash on his forehead. Panic surged through her as she rushed to his side, shaking him gently and calling his name frantically.
"Dev, Panda wake up! Please, wake up," Sonakshi pleaded, her hands trembling as she tried to revive him. With a gasp, Devashish's eyes fluttered open, confusion clouding his gaze as he struggled to orient himself.
As Devashish blinked blearily, trying to focus on the woman before him, he felt a sense of deja vu wash over him. Her face seemed familiar, like a half-remembered dream from long ago. But he couldn't quite place her, couldn't connect the dots in his foggy mind.
"Who... who are you?" Devashish croaked, his voice hoarse and strained from his fall. Sonakshi's heart sank at his words, realizing that he truly didn't remember her after all these years.
"It's me, Sonakshi your Muse..We used to be close friends" Sonakshi said softly, her voice tinged with sadness. Devashish's brow furrowed in confusion, trying to grasp at the memories that seemed just out of reach.
"Muse.. Sonakshi.." Devashish repeated her name like a mantra, trying to stir something deep within him. And then, like a floodgate opening, memories came rushing back to him - their love, their laughter, their shared dreams.
"Oh god, Sonakshi... I remember now. How could I have forgotten you?" Devashish's eyes filled with tears as the weight of his lost memories crashed over his heart.
Sonakshi's heart ached at Dev's words, seeing the pain and vulnerability in his eyes. She had never seen him like this before, so lost and afraid. She knelt down beside him, gently taking his hand in hers.
"Dev, I'm not going anywhere. I'm here for you, always. I never wanted to leave you, but circumstances pulled us apart," Sonakshi said softly, trying to reassure him. Devashish looked up at her, his eyes filled with tears of fear and uncertainty.
"But everyone always leaves, Sonakshi. Even you will leave me alone, won't you?" Devashish's voice quivered with emotion, his words like a wounded child's plea. Sonakshi felt a lump form in her throat, the weight of his pain heavy on her shoulders.
"No, Dev. I will never leave you. I promise," Sonakshi said firmly, her eyes locking with his, willing him to believe her. Devashish earched her gaze, seeing the truth and sincerity shining back at him.
For a moment, the room was filled with a heavy silence, broken only by the sound of their breathing. And then, slowly, Devashish fell in deep slumber after Sonakshi injected him a sleeping injection.
"Our yesterday was more beautiful, when we never worried about our future Panda..I hope you forgive me for something I said wrong"said Sonakshi to herself while scanning Dev's reports.
" I believe in your yesterday's promises Muse..hope you don't forget it"said Dev to himself with a chuckling laughter few hours later.
