I didn't had a good sleep that night after taking her home. She offered me to come in but I was feeling guilty for making her cry so I said that it's late and I should get home too. She didn't insisted though.
I was planning on calling her before I sleep but something pushed me back. I knew that I liked her but I think that I'm not in the right position to interfere with her decisions in life. I was smoking by the window when Reese came into my room.
"'Sup nerdy?" She asked and sat on my bed, get my cigar and lit one.
"Nothin'. Get lost." I shouted. The truth is, I don't want her to go. I need to ask her for some advice about Hansel. She could help me, I know. I mean, she is my only female sibling and she happens to be good at advices.
"Where were you all day? Hayley's been looking for you." She asked again and noticed the pictures on the side table. Hansel's pictures. She looked at it one by one.
"None of your business." I answered.
"New girlfriend?" She stood and walked towards me then she leaned on my back.
"Negative. She's technically not available." I sighed.
"Is she gay?" She was giggling.
"Worst." I looked at her and was about to laugh too. Siblings will always have the best and worst time together, and maybe tonight will be a rare good moment with her.
"Whoa! Tell me!" She eagerly said and shook my shoulders like what Hayley is doing to me when she wants something.
I told her the situation and she was all ears. She is the eldest so she thinks she has all the power to be the only superior child in our family. We gave her that privilege. I am the middle child and Vincent is the youngest. He is still in college taking up Law. My sister became quiet after I made the story as short as ever.
"Well, women always wish to feel wanted and loved and maybe she felt that way with him. You can't blame her for staying and you can't blame him either for wanting her, since her girlfriend isn't physically available. People have needs Nerdy. Sometimes, you will find yourself caught up between something that makes you happy and crazy and all but at the same time, at the end of the day you're hurting yourself. It is a matter of choice whether to keep going and hope for a change or continue to be blinded by the truth." She answered as we both finished our cigar.
"God! I really can't understand women!" I complained.
"The thing is you never tried asshole." She said and tapped my head a little hard making my hair messy and she walks out the door. See? She just steal a cigarette. Another thought hits me though. I mean, since I never really had any serious relationship with women, maybe it is also my fault for not reading between the lines.
All day, I've attempted a lot of times to call her but I hesitated. Maybe she needs her time recovering from the things I've said.
After work, I went to my studio to paint. My pain-in-the-ass sister's words last night keeps banging on my head. "The thing is you never tried."
I went to see her in her clinic the next day. A full 24 hours was over, maybe she's ok now. Lily saw me and flashed her adorable smile.
"Allen." She called.
"Hi. Is Hansel here?" I asked casually.
"No, she called me yesterday. She said she'll go on vacation." She answered.
"How long?" I was upset and worried.
"A month." She said.
"A month?" I tapped the table with my palm hard enough to make Lily flinch.
