The explosion rocked through the room, a violent force that send me flying onto the nearest wall. The Manor - what was left of it, at least - was in shambles. My head slammed on the concrete floor, and for a moment, pain took over my skull, threatening to swallow me whole.

The bomb had detonated, but somehow I was still alive. My ears still rang and my mind felt sluggish, as thoughts seemed to refuse to run through my brain.

The irritating smell of debris filled my nostrils and I could taste copper on my tongue. I tried to move, but my legs were too heavy, pinned under rubble that pierced into my skin. Warm blood trickled on my forehead. My sight blurred, as I tried to blink and focus on the scene around me.

Failed. Failed. Failed.

When the dust settled, I could see his figure standing amongst the ashes. We had been so close. I tried searching for her, my eyes darting in panic. She can't be dead. She saved me.

Tears gathered at my eye sockets and my vision burned. The pain was too much to bear. ''Help her.'' I tried calling out to the man, yet all that came out was a hoarse whisper.

They're all dead because of you. She's dead because of you.

Close to him, I could see the young man's body.

''For what it's worth, this wasn't my job. Why do my colleagues always have to perish at the most inconvenient of times.'' he said, a rhetoric question as he crouched, placing his pistol at the top of the other's forehead.

Fool. Foolish. You are foolish. You should've known he had a plan earlier.

A shot was heard, just as the corners of my vision darkened.

Hold on Angel. Stay awake.

The blessing of unconsciousness overtook me, and then everything was silent.
