After being taken back to the Marquis' residence by her great-grandmother and becoming a legitimate heir of the family, Su Yi no longer worried about buying a house or someone recklessly making a move against her.
With her mind at ease, just as she was catching her breath, that evening, Yan Shen delivered a name card to her.
The person who delivered it claimed to be a waiter from a restaurant and was waiting at the entrance of the Marquis' residence for her response.
Curious, she opened the name card and saw that it demanded she bring five hundred taels of silver to the Yiyun Tower to ransom someone.
Su Yi raised an eyebrow. The extortionist was bold enough to target her.
"Everyone in our family is safe in the residence, who could possibly need ransoming?"
As she was about to tear up the card, her maid, Peony, interjected with a gentle reminder, "Hold on, Miss. It has been a while since we last heard from Miss Feng."
Indeed, ever since Su Yi had been splashed with cold water and sent away, quite a few days had passed since they last saw Feng Ruoqing.
Because Feng often went out to gather herbs and sometimes didn't return for several days, Su Yi and the others had gotten used to it and assumed this time was no different.
Yan Shen frowned, "No way... Miss Feng is a doctor, why would she need someone to ransom her for no reason?"
Su Yi, holding the name card, was skeptical but said, "Better to believe it might be true than to dismiss it. Let's go check it out first."
So, she had a thousand taels of silver prepared and went to the entrance of the Marquis' residence, where indeed, a young woman dressed as a restaurant worker was waiting.
Seeing them come out, the young woman hurriedly bowed, "Hello, Miss."
Su Yi asked her, "Are you the waitress from Yiyun Tower?"
"Yes. Our manager's wife sent me to deliver the card."
"You've come a long way, thank you." Su Yi nodded at her and had Yan Shen give her a hundred coins as a reward.
The waitress quickly expressed her gratitude, but Su Yi stopped her, "No need for that. First, tell me, what does the person your manager wants me to ransom look like?" How do they dress? What are their features?"
"The woman seems to be a doctor, slightly taller than you, Miss, with a rather delicate appearance, always carrying a medical kit."
From her description, it was undoubtedly Feng Ruoqing.
Why would Feng Ruoqing need ransoming out of nowhere?
Su Yi was puzzled but concerned for Feng Ruoqing's safety. She ordered a sedan chair to be prepared and asked the waitress to lead the way.
After traveling for a while, the waitress announced they had arrived. Su Yi was helped out of the sedan chair.
There were many people coming and going, mostly women, with a few men who seemed curious about Su Yi's appearance. One man was so entranced that he tripped over his own feet, and his servant quickly helped him up before they hurried inside.
Su Yi, used to being stared at, paid no attention and took a look at the restaurant.
Its decorations were quite luxurious, with tung wood pillars and blue tile roofs. The building had five floors, each with pavilion-style architecture. The eaves were adorned with gargoyle-like sculptures, and the corners of each floor were decorated with rhino horn and wind chimes. Though there were no guardian lion statues at the entrance, the large sign overhead inscribed with "Yiyun Tower" was particularly striking.
