The cold breeze sneaked in through my sweater as it send shivered down my spine.I slowly walked dragging my hurt leg painfully along with myself. I walked randomly on the sidewalk with dozens of strangers.
This is the first time I've ever been out on the streets by my own. I had no idea where I was at. I had lived in Seoul for the longest time and yet, I was no different than any other new citizen here.
"Excuse me" I said to a random guy in the side walk while trying my best to keep my face hidden.
He looked at me as if he was silently asking 'me?' To himself.
He had a confused look on his face and I went a bit closer to him since I wasn't even sure if he could hear me properly.
"Sorry" I apologized from the beginning "do you know where yangsan market is?
"Oh" he said as if he never heard of their before. I gave him a confused look while he continued " you can take bus 56 straight from here to Yangsan market" he finally answered while he pointed at the bus stop near us where we were standing.
I looked at the bus stop and looked back at him.
"Kamsamnida" I bowed
The guy smiled and walked away.
I made my way towards the bus stop and waited for bus 56 to come.
"Sorry" a blonde hair girl apologized as she bumped into me while moving to my other side.
I nodded and didn't mind her.
The area was so crowded that it made me scared to be their all by myself. Even though I had an idea of where I was going and I thought I knew the way, but I still felt really nervous and confused.
Finally I saw a bus arrive with number 56 written on the top.
People slowly walked in one by one when the bus stopped while I was just standing their.
The girl who bumped to me a while ago was just about to go in when I stopped her.
"Excuse me!"
She looked up. "me?" She questioned"
I nodded and asked "does this bus go to yangsan market?"
"Yes" she replied right after. "in fact, I'm going their too"
"JINJA!" I exclaimed. " can I please
Come with you? I mean... like can u help me get their without getting lost?" I asked trying not to creep her out.
She looked at me from head to toe and asked "are u new in Seoul?"
"Umm...yea" I replied after a bit of thinking.
"Yahhh~...are u guys coming or what!?" The bus driver exclaimed.
"Uh...de... we're coming" the girl replied.
"Come on" she said as she quickly got onto the bus and so, I followed her,
She sat in one of the seats and I sat right beside her.
"Isn't it hotter in the bus?" The girl questioned "don't you wanna take off your scarf?"
I hesitated and didn't reply.
"I'm just sayin" she shrugged.
"It's fine, I still feel cold" I lied just so that I won't take my scarf off. If I did, my face would've been reviled and people would be able to recognize me.
"Ok" she said.
I was sitting beside the window and so I had a good view of the outside. I never knew riding a bus could have such a different feeling.
