Thomas

After Alby made me an official glader, he sent me off to do work with Newt in the gardens to try out being a Track-hoe.

"Has anyone tried climbing to the top?" I asked the blonde haired boy across from me.

"Tried it, Ivy doesn't go all the way to the top, besides where you gonna go from there?" Newt replies, keeping his focus on the plants in-front of him.

"Okay, well what about the box? You know next time it comes up-"

"tried it. The box won't go down with someone in it."

"Uh okay well" I try to think for more ways to try and get out.

"No, we tried it, okay? Twice. Alright? Anything you can think of, we've already tried." Newt pauses "The only way out, is through the maze."

I pause and look down.

"Look you wanna be helpful? Here" Newt throws me a basket, I catch it, looking at Newt in confusion.

"Go dig us up more fertiliser."
Seriously?

Thomas wanders into the forest, getting further and further away from the light of the glade.

"Just get the fertiliser, Thomas. Are you sure guys, I can't help in any other way?" Thomas said, annoyed at what newt sent him to do.

"No, just get the fertiliser, it's just out in the woods."

As Thomas walked, he tripped over and looked at a piece of wood, like a grave, there was a word carved into it, George. As Thomas continued to stare at the name, a twig snapped behind him, causing him to look back to see a boy stood there, the boy that came out from the maze, Ben.

As Thomas stared at Ben, he noticed he wasn't quite right, his eyes bloodshot, his skin pale as snow, his veins blue and black.

"Uh, Ben right? I don't think we ever-hey you alright?" Ben snarled and quickly lunged at Thomas with a grunt , tackling them both to the floor.

"It's your fault! You did this! How could you?" Ben screamed and wrapped his hands around Thomas neck, choking him.

Thomas managed to grab a rock and hit ben'a head, knocking the boy off him, managing to free himself from the boy's embrace.

Thomas ran through the woods, Ben behind him, following him.

"HEY! SOMEONE HELP!" Thomas yelled out, trying to get someone's attention.

Ben grabs a hold of Thomas' waist, pulling him down, both of them falling down a hill.

"HEY! HELP!" Thomas tried again, fortunately for Thomas, a couple of gladers could hear his yells for help.

Thomas ran out of the woods, catching the attention of more gladers, Ben lunges at Thomas, knocking them to the floor again.

Newt runs up to them "Hey!" Ben looks up as a shovel hits his head, throwing him off Thomas.

Gladers crowded round, gally and newt attempt to hold down Ben. Alby walks up, looking at Ben's shirt and eyes.

"What happened?" Alby questions.

"I don't know, he just attacked me" Thomas replies out of breath.

"Lift his shirt." Alby orders.

"No, no, no." Ben begins to cry out.

Gally pulls ben's shirt up to reveal a sting mark, black and grey.

"He's been stung? In the middle of the day?" Gally asks confused.

Ben cry's out, begging.

"Put him in the pit." Alby demands, Ben tries to wiggle out of the hands of the boys.

"NO, No, no!!" Ben screams, no one listens, knowing Ben is not Ben anymore.

"What's gonna happen to him?"

Thomas

Chuck stood close to me, Minho looked heartbroken as he held Ben, walking to the maze doors. Ben cried, begging.

Minho dropped Ben on his knees infront of the open doors, he sliced the rope from ben's hands, freeing his wrists.

"Minho, please." Ben begged eagerly. Minho ignored the cries.

Newt, Alby, Gally and the rest of the gladers stood in a semi circle around the doors, holding long wooden poles. Some held poles which had an extra short pole on the end making it look like a 'T'.

The doors rumble to life with a fish of wind, they began to close slowly.

"Poles!" Alby yells as the crowd lowers their poles in front of Ben. Chuck couldn't handle it anymore as he looked up at me, a sad expression across his face, he walked away.

"Move in." Alby orders as the gladers began to walk closer, making Ben walk closer to the gap between the doors.

Ben screamed and cried.

"How could they do this?" I thought.

Silence followed after the maze doors shut, Ben's cries could no longer be heard.

Alby turns to face the gladers
"He belongs to the maze now." He walks away, followed by the rest of them.

As I sit on my hammock, looking out into the glade, I can see Alby staring off into the distance, tears stained his cheek.

I turn around, closing my eyes letting the sleep take over me.
