At home, I receive a facetime request from Eve. I've barely started packing, but I already sent Alisa the packing list, and she replied with a thumbs up. I hit accept on my phone screen. "Hey, what's up?" I ask.
"We need your opinion." Alisa walks into frame with a black bikini that has small light pink and blue flowers scattered on it. "That was option one..." She holds up a hot pink bikini with a wire bra look to it in front of Alisa. Then she holds up the bottoms. They have little bows on the sides. "And this is option two."
"They both look so cute!" I say. "You can always bring both. We can even go shopping for a new one while we're there."
"Okay, I'll pack both," she says.
We talk back and forth with Eve, adding something here and there. Almost an hour later, we're done packing."When are we leaving?" Alisa asks.
Oh, crap. I haven't told her yet. "Tomorrow..." I wince.
"B! Why didn't you tell me earlier! Shit! I gotta hurry. Okay, love you, bye!" Alisa hangs up.
She must have more to pack. I was going to give her time to take off work and get ready, but that's what I get for telling her a day before we leave.
I get another facetime request from her. I laugh and accept. "Heatless curls or no?" she asks.
"Do it," I tell her.
"Ok, got it." she hangs up again.
I zip and unzip my suitcase, realizing I forgot something. "Damn it," I mutter under my breath. I always forget my phone charger. I unplug my phone and shove the cord and box in the suitcase. My phone is only at fifty percent, and I'll probably drain it more before I get a chance to charge it. I trudge down the stairs and go to ask my mom if she's using hers."There was an accident," I hear someone say quietly. I pause before the last step. "...fire. I offered for them to stay with us."
"Mom! Why would you do that? You know Will and I don't get along... Cath hates me!" It sounds like my mom and Grandma.
I figure it's important that I hear this. I walk into the kitchen. "What are you guys talking about?" I ask. They both turn to look at me. Mom looks furious.
"We can talk later," my mom says. "We need to get this straightened out first. Is there something you wanted to ask me?"
"Uhm, yeah. Are you using your phone charger?" I ask her. She shakes her head.
"It's plugged in by my bed," she tells me. I walk upstairs to go get it and leave them to their conversation. If it's really important, they'll tell me.
In my room, I shoot off a quick text telling her what time we're leaving tomorrow. I go to my jewelry box. It's the one that has a mirror as the cover and locks. I love it. I leave it unlocke, so I just open it and grab a few necklaces that I like as well as earrings. I don't really wear rings or bracelets, but maybe Alisa and I can make bracelets there. I put them in my travel case and then add that to the pile of things to add to my suitcase. The pile consists of all my skin care items that I'll use later. My toothbrush, toothpaste, and contacts are in that pile, too. I prefer my glasses over contacts, but if I'm going to tan and swim, I don't want them coming in the water with me. I get my heatless curler out of my drawer and do my hair. It's only 2:00 now, but I want them to look good tomorrow. On second thought, I have my last day of work for the summer today.
