Chapter 03 : Brother Dearest

✧ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✦✧✦ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✧

DESPITE THE FACT that classes were cancelled today because of a national holiday, I still found myself sitting inside the science club room alone. It was troublesome, yes, but it was part of my duties as the leader. Not to mention I get to have some time for myself without being questioned by either of my parents. It was mostly father who did the incessant berating, even going so far as dragging Yoojin's name into it without even knowing him.

Of course, I unequivocally defended Yoojin without missing a heartbeat, even if it cost me more reproachful words from father and lost a bit of phone privilege during the night. All I'd have would be my iPad when I come to school, maybe my laptop sometimes if needed badly for any kind of school activities. My iPad can handle almost anything that an ordinary laptop can, but the storage is where I'm a bit in a disadvantage.

Today was one of those days where I had brought both my iPad and laptop with me. I could have used the school computers, much like everyone else, but I prefer a bit of privacy and being able to carry it around wherever I go.

The only online activity left for me to do is to code a website. A fully functioning one that can be viewed by other people and interact with it. Our computer science teacher only gave us a month to finish the whole thing. If you ask me, a month is a bit too long for just a one page website that was in the activity sheet but guessing that there's other activities from other subjects that many students struggle with, our teacher gave us a bit of some leniency.

She also gave us creative freedom by letting us choose what our website will be all about. It can be about food, a place, a bit of history, or maybe some games, just as long as we are able to create a website and present it to her on the due date.

In our class group chat—that I created but hardly interacted with others—we began listing down our themes and topics. There were quite a lot of topics and some were quite niche. They all seemed interesting and I look forward to seeing what my classmates have done. My favourite one was facts and recipes for French pastries. I still wonder why Taeyang chose computer science as one of his elective subjects but he's having fun with it. . . I guess.

I still haven't picked a topic and theme yet which is stressing me out a bit. The library was closed until eleven, it's just my misfortune that it was still eight in the morning. There were many interesting books in the library that could aid me in my indecisiveness but until then, I'll just stay here in the science club room.

Just as I closed my laptop to preserve it's battery life, a figure walking leisurely through the hallway caught my attention.

Average height, frayed hairstyle, no glasses, and definitely had a more distant look in his eyes. That was undoubtedly Yoojin's twin brother.

I watched him walk towards the front door of the classroom and open it wordlessly, then closing it behind him. The boy hardly reacted to my presence and sat near me without looking at me. There was only silence as he pulled out a small snack from his slacks pocket.

To say that watching Yoosung eat was entertaining is an understatement. As I sat in my chair, iPad in hand, the other with my stylus pen, I began to draw him. In this moment, I felt like a renaissance painter with my muse being a boy eating his little snack like a squirrel minding his own business and devouring some nuts—do squirrels actually eat nuts? Never mind that now.
