The next day, Laito's voice rang in my head as I picked a rose out of the garden with Yui. You were offered to us as a sacrifice . . . by the very church you have such faith in . . .
"That can't possibly be true," Yui said when I told her.
She cried broken heartedly and I held her, using the emotion Laito had awaken to comfort her. When Yui fell asleep, I tried to suppress them. I still am now. If I don't get rid of these emotions now, the pain will come at full force. That pain will destroy as it nearly did the first time.
I held the beautiful red rose in my hand. I use to love roses, so did . . . He. The boy who had broken me. I still dare no speak his name. Even now after all these years.
"Ikaros, Yui." I turned to see Kanato.
"I would like for to pick up those roses and follow me," he said. "I don't like to be kept waiting."
Yui started to do what he asked. I made no movement. When Yui was done gathering flowers, we stood. I took the flowers from her. Kanato stopped Yui by raising a hand.
"I just want Ikaros," he said. She looked at me, worried.
"It's okay," I said, following Kanato. "Be safe. Stay out of trouble, Yui." I had a feeling I was the one in trouble.
Kanato took me to a cemetery. I had a bad feeling that I was being stupid, coming here alone with him. There was no telling what he'll do to me. There was no one here to stop him. I am being stupid. Coming here, alone.
"What are we doing here?" I asked.
"Graves are so deeply dark and full of the smell of death. I think they're great, don't you?" He asked. "I love graves. They're so cold and quiet, and indifferent to terror . . . My mother lies here."
"Your mother passed away?" Was she killed?
"I killed her. Would you believe that?" He asked, turning around. "Although it hardly matters. Right Teddy? Please place those roses here." I did so.
"I'll be leaving now," I said, walking away.
"You are very self-serving. I especially invited you here, but you leave the second it displeases you. You have a lot of nerve!" He said, grabbing the roses and hit them against the grave.
"Stop that," I said. He stopped and let the roses slip from his hands to the ground.
"Don't order me around mortal!" He yelled at me. I didn't flinch like Yui would have.
"I wasn't," I said, hoping that will calm him down.
"It's tiring when you apologize, so please don't!" He hissed, moving towards me. "Do you get a kick out of deceiving others?!" I stepped back and tripped. He laughed.
"Now crawl around in the dirt and cry like the pathetic girl you are. Then I may forgive you," he said, laughing. He suddenly stopped laughing. He jumped on top of me. Trapping me between his arms.
"Kanato?" He opened his mouth, revealing fangs. Why is it always me?
"I forget . . . If mortal woman aren't given a kiss before being pleasured, do they become angry?"
"What are you talking about?" I asked. He looked back down at me.
"You women are such a pain," he said. Then he kissed me. My eyes widened in shock. His lips were soft, but cold. I turned my head to the side and he bit into me. Then stopped. "You smell like something I remember. Why is that? You smell so familiar to me." He bit into me again.
