The floorboards creaked under the heavy, deliberate steps of Jisung as he stomped from room to room. His face was flushed, and eyes flashed with frustration, fists clenched tightly at his sides.
Behind him was Minho following cautiously, his voice calm and collected while he tried to reason with soothing words. He spoke gently, but his words seemed to bounce off the air, unheard amidst the relentless stomping.
"I knew you were up to no good!" Jisung screamed, still making no effort to face Minho as he stomped away from the other.
"Baby... I was just-"
"Don't you baby me." Jisung shook his head, upset. "I was away from home for only three days! Three!"
As to prove his frustrations, the boy lifted three fingers directly in front of Minho's face, flashing them from left to right aggressively. While Minho helplessly tried to wave it away from him.
"Baby-" Minho was cautious with his choice of words. One more mistake and a television would be tossed towards him. "I mean, Jisung..."
A loud gasp was heard as 'betrayal' was written all over the younger's face. "You did not just call me by my real name." Jisung sent a glare, secretly feeling satisfied to see Minho gulp in fear.
Minho attempted to take a bold step forward. "What else am I supposed to- Okay, okay, I'm sorry! Put that kettle down! Gosh, how'd you even get that?"
"I'm getting the fridge next." stated Jisung.
That was enough to make the man before him stop talking.
A brief, uncomfortable silence hung between them like a thick fog. Minho rubbed the the back of his neck, feeling the heat rise to his cheeks. They had never gotten into such a huge argument before, Minho had fucked up big time.
Just recalling back the expression on his boyfriend's face caused a terrible guilt in him. Glossy eyes threatening to spill over with tears, as the corners of his mouth droop from sadness. Gosh, he felt like the worst boyfriend ever.
"Well? Are you just gonna stand there and say nothing?" Jisung crossed his arms, his anger still yet to disappear.
"Only if you put the kettle down, you'll burn yourself Ji." Minho managed to take another step forward, careful to not get hit by the younger boy's tightened fists.
He was surprised to see that despite throwing an angry fit, Jisung still reluctantly placed the object down carefully with a quivering pout.
"I'm sorry, Hannie." Minho felt his heart break into million pieces when tears broke free and streamed down Jisung's cheeks before the younger covered his face with his hands.
A few sobs escaped, each one shaking his body slightly, making it clear how overwhelmed he was feeling at that moment. What hurts even more was that Minho swore to never be the one to make his beloved cry, but standing there at that very moment, watching his lover break down in tears, Minho hated himself so, so much.
"How could you?" Jisung hiccupped, his face still hiding beneath his own hands as more tears tickled down his chin.
"I'm so sorry, Ji... I didn't know you would react this way." Minho tried to move closer, only to shoved back by the crying male.
"Don't come any closer." Jisung sniffled quietly, with his head drooped downwards like a tired puppy. "You have no idea what kind of terrible thoughts went through my head when I caught you and... her.."
As Jisung could feel himself going into a spiraled panic attack, Minho knew he had to step in once more. With a swift movement, Jisung was now wrapped tightly between his arms.
His heart became heavier when the other boy attempted to get away from him while still sobbing hysterically. The boy had never once rejected his hugs.
"I trusted you, Min." Jisung whispered, too tired to get visibly mad. But deep down, Minho knew there was still a tornado rampaging within him.
"We've been together for two years. And I thought... you truly loved me."
Minho didn't like that a single bit. He hated how Jisung's voice was filled with insecurity, it was fucking hard to watch and listen.
"I do love you!" Minho could feel tears brimming in his own eyes. God, he didn't want to turn this into a sob fest. They were supposed to be happy, with each other. Not this. "I love you so much!"
"You clearly don't!" Jisung managed to wiggle himself out of Minho's hold. Even though he was hurt, the boy still had already missed the other's touch as soon as he let him go. "You were smiling when you're with her, do you even laugh that much when you're with me?"
Minho blinked his tears away as he tried to explain, but unfortunately Jisung had beaten him to it.
"If you're really that unhappy with me, then go to her." Jisung tried to sound unbothered, but the crack in his voice was evident that Minho had gone overboard this time.
"Jisung-"
"Don't even get me started on how you kissed her. How... How could you, Minho?" Before he knew it, Jisung burst out crying once again, this time even louder and more painful.
Neither of them had ever imagined themselves getting into such situations with the other. They were always so confident that nothing and no one could ever destroy their relationship, but things change.
All good things have to come to an end.
Guilt washed over Minho from head to toe, heavy and suffocating, while mingling with shame and regret. The world around him seemed to blur, and every detail felt magnified: the look of hurt in Jisung's eyes, the silence hanging thick in the air, the weight of unspoken words.
The more Jisung thought about it, the more his stomach twisted in knots. In that moment, their future felt so uncertain.
Everything they've once had together, were going to be gone. As much as Jisung hated separation, he knew this had to be done, for the sake of his own good.
"Honey, she's my younger cousin. She's only 8, and I gave her a goodnight kiss on the cheek." Minho spoke.
"That's not making anything better!" Jisung pouted with crossed arms, annoyed that Minho still did not get his point. "You're not supposed to kiss anyone else. That's not loyalty, Min. That's already considered cheating. It's a red flag behavior!"
Minho cocked an eyebrow at this. "I thought family members are an exception?"
"Yeah, but your cousin?" Jisung frowned. "That's over the line! You're a cheater, Min. Admit it like a man."
Suddenly, all negative thoughts and comments about attacking Minho had disappeared with a poof when Minho cupped his face and started peppering light kisses on him. Feeling Minho's lips on him just felt right, that was something undeniable.
Jisung has every right to be possessive over Minho, including the kisses the guy gives. They were only meant for one person, him.
As Minho placed his final kiss right at Jisung's lips, the younger boy had forgiven him already. The past is in the past, forgive, forget!
"I'm sorry, love. That was terrible of me." Minho pulled him in for a hug, and this time, Jisung wrapped his own arms around him willingly with no complaints.
"You should be. From now on, you're mine." Jisung grinned, giving Minho a squeeze as he felt the older release a soft giggle.
"I've always been yours. It's either you or no one at all." Minho tilted his boyfriend's chin to place a loving kiss right at the tip of his nose.
"That's right." Jisung pulled Minho's head down as their foreheads connected gently. "Mine."
