The first message appears at the end of October, its late afternoon and Alex is just finishing his third, no fourth cup of coffee.

He really needs to address the amount of caffeine he is imbibing he muses, Yep he'll just add that to the list.

He lifts his phone and sees a number he recognises, one that is burnt into his brain.

Hi, I hope this is ok, Nora gave me your new number.

Don't be too angry, it did take much begging and maybe a few bribes.

Can we talk?

It's Henry.

Alex stared at the screen for a long time, frozen. Not sure what to say, or what to feel. Its been months of hoping, of wanting, of empty beds and sleepless nights. He is unsure how to put that into words, where to begin, and then... then there is Eduardo...

His trail of thoughts are interrupted with a ping from his lap top.

Alex puts the phone down, opens the email.

Alex spends Thanksgiving alone in the loft. Pez is back in London for the month, Nora and June in DC with the family, organising the final 'Young Americans New Year's Eve Gala', or better known as The Legendary Balls-Out Bananas White House Trios New Years Eve Party" The White House Trio's swan song.

Alex is not in the mood and wonders if it can be avoided, not feeling much like the Balls out or the Bananas, maybe it can be just the Duo's? He doubts that that is going to fly.

He has just finished face-timing with them going over the plans and he would have given anything to be there; but he has a deposition that has to be finish and so here he is eating a frozen turkey dinner alone, which is as appetising as it sounds.

There is a ping from his phone, a text from Henry.

Happy Thanksgiving Alex,

Hopefully no murderous beady eyed raptors to mar the day.

Alex huffs a small laugh, he knows he should answer, he has tried, there have been a few texts over the weeks but doesn't know what to say. So he just stares at the screen and rereads the words.
