Redamancy

Chapter 2

The men open the door signalling for me to follow them and to not fall behind or I will get lost, my no sense of direction doesn't help either.

We step in a metal elevator with a huge mirror at the back. I take a look and see the state of my appearance.

Oh my god, it looks like I've just been hit by a bus and thrown into a bush. I quickly drag my fingers through my hair to attempt to tame the frizz in my hair from the rain.

The ding of the elevator indicating we are at our level rings loudly and the officers rush out of there. What is their deal with walking so fast the personality switch is strange as well they barely spoke to me unlike they did in the car.

I observe my surroundings and there is a shiny white tiled floor with people in lab coats and suits rushing around the place, it looks like a mess but they all move in routine like a pattern.

Noticing officers Anderson and Grives are speeding ahead of me I have to jog to catch up to them. They stop in front of a door and knock immediately standing into position where their hands are behind their backs and feet slightly further apart.

A wave of anxiety flows over my body. I think it was quite obvious on my face and the two men looked back to assure I was still there and made eye contact smirking. Okay now i'm starting to freak out a little bit.

Taking me out of my thoughts, a tall man opens the door.

Woah.

Immediately he stares at me with a look I can't read, he has golden hair with deep brown eyes with glasses slightly down his nose. He's wearing a white button up shirt with the top buttons done up neatly and the sleeves carefully rolled up to his elbows, black suit trousers as well as black well polished shoes.

When he opens that door and looks at me the anxiety gets ten times stronger. I can feel it bursting out of my body.

"Mr DuCarmont, this is Miss Raven Silveront. She matched the description perfectly and with the tension in the air I think we have found the right person." Mr Grives speaks respectfully with a slight hint of humour, Mr DuCarmont nods his head at him and steps back welcoming us in.

"We have a lot of explaining to do so come in." Mr DuCarmont walks to a chair placed at an office desk. The room contains a single chair placed in front of Mr DuCarmont and a long sofa along the back wall with a few plants placed around the room. There is a huge bookshelf filled with what seems like millions of books.

"So Raven, I'm guessing you dont know why you're here?" he questions as the two officers stand by the door and head straight. I'm shocked that he used my name as they addressed me by miss.

I snap out of my thinking as I sit in the chair curled up in a ball leaning against the arm rest and my feet on the edge of the cushioned seat. "Yeah, I asked for an explanation but they said I couldn't get one till I saw someone who knew everything about it."

He simply nods his head and continues "The people who you previously lived with were not your actual family, okay?" I nod my head slowly for him to continue "so we have brought you here to let you know that your family has found you and are currently waiting outside. Is it alright to bring them in?"

I stare at him with shock on my face

"Sure go ahead " I play with the cuff of my sleeves slightly anxious i will be forced into another environment like that again.

Without another word he slides a file folder on top of the desk and goes to welcome in my family.

Shit.

I slowly spin my chain around on its wheels to make direct eye contact with a very tall muscular man who you can tell he shreds the gym to pieces. He has a black button up shirt with the top buttons undone, a black blazer with a deep red inside, freshly ironed black dress trousers and well kept shoes that made a click noise as he walked

"Miss silveront, this is your father Mr Lorenzo Aranda." Mr DuCarmont welcomes my father into the room. "When can I get her second name changed as quickly as possible." Lorenzo spoke in a slightly threatening tone. It was quite comforting though knowing he was doing it for me and how he accepts me to be in his family name.

"We can do that right now all you have to do is sign these papers which prove that she's your biological daughter and that she will take your last name." Mr DuCarmont opens the file he sat on the desk which contains a small photo of what looks like me in the top corner and a range of other photos with someone walking in dark areas. He lifts out the paper and a pen setting them in front of Lorenzo as he shuts the drawers.

Lorenzo instantly picks up the pen signing the pages faster than ive seen anyone write before. "is that it?" he asks putting the pen back into the pot.

Mr DuCarmont nods his head "Yes that is all, Officer Anderson and Grives will show you out. Have a lovely day."

We both stand up in sync following the officers out.

"Are you really my father?" I ask , bouncing my leg up and down in the front seat of the car.

He nods and speaks "Yes i am your dad. You can call me that or lorenzo, fathers too formal." he laughs lightly "You will meet the rest of the family at the house we have, it's got enough rooms for all of us to have our own so we will respect your privacy but of course you don't have to come with us you can go back if you want but we would much rather prefer to have you here with us."

Without a doubt i would rather stay here than go back to whatever the fuck that was that i used to live in.

"Okay, I'll stay here as long as I get a lock on my door." I answer sternly as I can't trust anyone anymore, it's not like I think they will do anything, it's more the comfort of knowing no one can get in.

"Yes of course there is a lock already on the bedroom doors so you don't have to wait for it to be installed. You don't need to worry we have enough time to get you home and settled into your room before the rest arrive home as their all out at school or doing jobs."

I hum in response and start daydreaming out the window unconsciously nodding my head to the beat of the music. He notices as slightly turns it up.
