Our family tree, DeeAnn told her coffee group this morning," I grew up with my Aunts books she wrote about the Emerson family tree. My maiden name and our Dad's last name he gave Mom by marriage. And my favorite thing to do is read up on it and my family tree book my Aunt gave me so long ago. I relish it so much I would like to go over it at a special Class I'm going I going to have here. I'm inviting those invited to the class to bring their family tree books along to class. Associating pictures with people if they'd like.
Fanny: I love the idea DeeAnn, in fact, I have my family tree book out at home already. And watercolor pictures of my close family members. Some old antique Amish dresses matched to bonnets I'll bring. Oh, I'm so happy about this class. I think I will ask my Mater to come. She has lots of things about the family tree. And her wedding dress I will ask her to bring.
They sipped coffee , nibbled on donuts, cherry cake donuts with a thick cream cheese frosting. And apple slices , coffee nice and hot , ice water on the side our favorite.
Sister Susan, just got there , helping herself to Donuts and coffee. Today wearing her habit , Catholics call a black scarf a white front tied in back. With a white collar a black long dress , stockings and black old lady chunky healed tie shoes. A very pretty woman, a broken engagement brought our lord to tell her heart to join the Nuns and she did.
Sister Susan : "I stood in your doorway listening to you about the class on My Family Tree. I will bring my private book on the family I grew up in. This is so exciting I can't wait to attend I shall bring along my first Nun dress and habit along."
"Pictures speak to you, especially if they are about you. Your life is pictured in a standstill forever. A freeze frame of you. We have a game played at the farm called Freeze Frame. This is how you play the game," DeeAnn explained. " Your group in gameplay standing up, I ask them to walk around and stop imitating something, for instance, imitate, baking, washing dishes, blowing bubbles, you choose it. Then DeeAnn or whoever is in charge of being the game host. Asks questions, and directs the game. She asks you to think of a story in your life that fits your scenario when asked to stop what you are doing. You in turn make like a still form not moving. Then you are able to tell everyone the story behind your still form."
Fanny: I'm excited about playing DeeAnn. I wish to play as soon as possible here. They all agreed to it. Let's make invitations and send them out to friends. And go from there. The sooner the better we get started ."
DeeAnn agreed wholeheartedly we get started. The day was spent constructing the invitation sent out to friends and family. They will make an entire day of it for sure. Those of us initiated into the game mindset. This will get us all started to get involved right away.
Everyone is to set up a game briefcase with their own detailed information inside. Intricate pictures are picked by yourself. Your picks are pictures or painted ones of you and your family members. Also tokens a simple small gems made by yourself. That is an old Madeline, an antique Monopoly piece, a tiny necklace locket lost from its chain. One pin to put on a sweater, Amish clothespin, handkerchief, button, and safety pin to name a few.
This piece is won by guessing the image of yourself, another game player picks as yourself.
When you end up winning one from each player, you win a hand-painted square 5x5. This will be glued to a wooden square 45 inches by 50 inches. You will glue onto this wooden board, and on the back is a hanger to hang on your wall.
When these are finished are truly beautiful. And looks like a real-life Quilt. Your game board is a thin piece of wood-painted off-white. On the top, you have painted by hand a square the size of a recipe card tace it, in black, and remove,  paint inside, ( My family name is taken from?).
The next step, trace twenty-four squares, then write inside each one using a paint pen. You are responsible for questions picked carefully to fit a family diagram that best fits the community you live in.
Step 3: Questions to ask each player are?
What year did your family name first become placed in a directory? Picture of family home place, homestead, farmstead. The names of your parents and of course siblings. Family quotes or sayings, jokes. Your favorite Bible verse, dates of marriage in the Bible. Favorite Pet name, and picture if you have one available.
Favorite Recipes, cookies, pie, ice cream, cake. Make sure to make it out on a separate blank card made on a recipe card. There is a box traced on your board to set cards in. Everyone is welcome to thumb through to find a specific recipe. Take it out and copy it by your own hand on a blank card you keep. When finished keep your copy and stick the other one back underneath other cards. In each game, these cards will be different. Changed out to fit different families.
To keep going, each member of the game is given a sketchpad to sketch on. At one point in the game, you are supposed to sketch the person on your right. You will be allotted an hour to set your game kitchen timer. Sketch your opponent.
When the timer goes off, give the sketch to them. Then Modge Podge is set aside to dry. After dried glue a cut piece of velcroy on the back. You are all in charge of getting a heavy piece of felt to put up during game time.
Game time all day long, sometimes gathering into the next day coming back to finish. Usually always played on Saturday and Sunday. Make sure to finish by the next day's end. This is a much-loved game to play.
Participants also bring along family albums, which they set in a grouping on a table meant for this. Story swapping is much accomplished. Have fun.
