MARIPOSAS EYELIDS FELT heavy and her eyes were extremely sensitive to the incoming light from all around the white room. Woah! White room?

"Did I die?"

As she's reaching up to touch her face, a pinch like tug is felt underneath the front side of her hand, under her skin. A needle. "Ow."

"Hi. You're awake."

Mariposa's brown eyes looked up, meeting a green pair that stared at her with a look that was much different from the usual money signs, and sick thoughts she usually got from peoples eyes. This look held something safe.

"Where am I? W-what happened?"

Bailey quickly shows her empty hands, a sign she means no harm as she sits at the girls bedside, a sad smile on her face. "You passed out at school. You—you had a bit of an accident." The woman didn't know how exactly to put into words what happened so she decided that she would dull it down for her.

"I-I'm gonna be in trouble. I need to get back to the house." She becomes frantic as she tries to get up only to find any movement involving her legs is impossible. "O-ow."

Bailey is quick to move form the chair to the end of the bed grabbing the girls hands to stop her from ripping the IV from her hand or climbing out of the bed.

"You're not in trouble sweetheart. Something happened. You were attacked, you're in the hospital getting treatment."

Instantly, fear flushes through her body and she's suddenly out of the bed faster than Bailey can comprehend it. The saline drip that was stuck in her hand was pulled out and she used it to keep the woman back. "No! Stay back! I have to get o-out of here! I don't wanna be here!" The door opens and three cops, two women one man, and her social worker and PO stood in the doorway.

"Mariposa, calm down!"

"Sweetheart, you have to drop that. Drop the needle, Mariposa." The female cop said. Her hand rested on her taser just in case as she watched the small girl tremble with fear.

Mariposa bites her lip, her tears free falling. "I have to go!"

"You're not leaving this room, Mariposa. Now put the needle down," Linda says.

Mariposa's eyes dart around at the unknown faces around her and the two familiar ones. She drops the needle and her hands stay up in surrender, her body still shaking like a leaf.
