chapter 6

Colet's POV

Nandito ako ngayon sa kuwarto doing my homework. I'm halfway through it when my phone vibrate so I checked who texted me.

Ms. Vergara, I'm expecting the student council tomorrow sa game ng volleyball team natin vs sa Sparrow. Full force tayo tomorrow to support our team. Kindly spread the news.

Si Mr. Reyes ang nagmessage sakin. He's our guidance counselor. I replied to his message and message our group chat so they can help me to spread the news.

I decided to message Maloi para sabay na kami pumunta sa school.

Me: Uyab? Sabay na tayo pumuntang school tomorrow. The whole student council will be there eh.

Maloi: Sure, no problem. Punta ka na lang dito if aalis na tayo.

Me: Ok. Good night!

Maloi: Sweet dreams uyab!

Napangiti naman ako sa message nya. Maloi never fails to make me smile. Even small things she does, makes me happy.

I've known her since we were kids and I always make sure na nandyan ako palagi para sa kanya. She's my best friend and the person I love the most.

I love her matagal na pero never akong nag-attempt na umamin sa kanya. It's not about rejection, hindi ako takot mareject if ever. What I'm scared of is may magbago samin. I can't afford to lose her.

Hangga't kaya ko pa na maging magkaibigan lang kami, hanggang dun lang muna. I don't want to jeopardize our friendship.

Nandito na kami sa gym and as expected, maraming tao kahit late announcement na yung ginawa kagabi. Mas maraming taga school kesa sa kalaban.

I'm planning to sit next to Maloi na nandun sa may malapit sa team namin pero hindi ko magawa kasi I need to make sure na everything is fine and hindi ko yun magagawa kung nasa bleacher ako.

Lumabas na yung mga players. I roamed my eyes to observe. Loud crowd coming from our school and from the opponent's school. Rival kasi namin yung Sparrow kaya ganyan na lang din ang support ng school sa team.

I saw Mikha walking kaya sinundan ko sya ng tingin. Nakita kong lumakad sa papunta sa pwesto ni Maloi.

Hindi ko alam bakit hinahayaan ko lang yung sarili kong masaktan habang pinapanood yung interaction nila.

Mikha gave her a jersey which I think spare jersey nya yun. I saw how Maloi's face lit up and may halong kilig and hiya. Mikha gesture Maloi to lean forward and parang may binulong ito sa kanya.

Maloi never smile to me like that. It's different from her usual smile.

I clenched my jaw watching them being flirty with each other. Wala naman akong karapatang magselos pero nagseselos ako.

"Bakit kasi hindi ka pa umamin?" Napatingin ako sa nagsalita sa tabi ko. Si Gwen pala.

"Anong laban ko kay Mikha? Mukhang gusto na sya ni Maloi." Walang buhay kong sagot.

"Sa tingin mo ba mas pipiliin ni Maloi yung saglit nya pa lang nakikilala kesa sayo na best friend nya?" Tanong ni Gwen.

"Tsaka, kayo lang yung mag best friend na ang tawagan is uyab." Dagdag pa nya.

"Look at her.." sabi ko which made Gwen look where Maloi is. "Look how happy she is. Hindi sya ganyan ngumiti sakin. Si Mikha lang ang nakapagpangiti sa kanya ng ganyan." Tumingin ako kay Gwen and ganun din sya sakin.
