Neutral-Gender Dorming

Chapter 1

~Brianna POV~

"Ok, and did you pack your Christmas sweater?" My mom asked.

"Mom, Christmas is months from now and that's not my only warm sweater." I chuckled at my mom who was making sure I packed everything for college. It is august and I'm dorming at Riverpeak University. My phone rang. I looked at it and it was Bella.

"Hey Brianna?" Bella said, making sure I was on the line.

"Yes?" I answered.

"Ok good hold on." I heard Bella say, then I heard a click. She must be putting us on three-way with our friend Asia.

"Asia Brianna is on." I heard Bella say.

"Hey Brianna!" Asia said into the phone. I smiled at my friends' voices.

"Hey!" I said back to Asia. I liked it when we did three-way calls. It was fun.

"Ok, so I can't believe we all got into the same college!" Bella squealed.

"Yeah, me neither!" I chuckled and I zipped up my last suitcase.

"What if one of us shared dorms?" Asia asked.

"Then that would be extremely cool!" I said smiling.

"Ok pumpkin, are you ready?" My dad said peeking my door in my room. I nodded, not saying yes because I was on the phone.

"Um, no your not! We still didn't finish rechecking everything!" My mom said putting her hands on her hips.

"One second guys." I said into the phone then looked at my mom.

"Mom... I'll be fine.... I'm a grown woman now..." I said to my mom. My mom's hands eased off her hips and then onto her face. She started crying. I sighed.

"Guys I'll call you back." I said hanging up my phone.

"I'll be fine..." I said hugging my mom with my phone still in my hand.

"You just grew up so fast!" My mom said through her tears. I rested my head on my mom's shoulder and hugged her.

"Well uh... this is a mommy daughter moment so... I'll be in the living room." My dad said walking away.

"Mom... can't you see? I'll be fine..." I said trying to look into my mom's eyes. She took her hands off her face and glared at me nodding. Then she sniffled.

"Ok..." She said, sounding a little reassured. I let go of my mom and I put my phone in the pocket of my jeans.

"Ok, I have to go or else I'll get there tonight!" I said grabbing my suitcases off my bed and popping out their handles.

"Ok... let's go..." My mom said wiping tears and I rolled my suitcases out my room.

When we got there, my mom and dad hugged me tightly, and even my dad teared up a little.

"I'll be ok..." I said trying to reassure them.

"Ok... bye sweety... love you..." My mom and dad said and drove off in their car.

"Were free!" I could faintly hear my dad yell. Well, that's nice. I laughed and shook my hair, my parent's are funny. I then called Bella.

"Are you here yet?" I asked looking around.

"Yeah! It's so cool! I found my dorm, and Asia is my roommate!" Bella yelled into the phone excitedly.

"Hey Brianna!" I heard Asia call out in the background.

"Cool, I'm about to find out who has me...." I said nervously. I looked at the map of the campus.

"Woah..." I said. Then I looked on the map to find my dormitory. Once I found it, I went into the dormitory and my dean greeted me.

"Hi! I'm Lianna! I'm your dean" A girl, with curly blonde hair said. The curls seemed natural, she looked Italian. She sat at a desk and she shook my head.

"You must be new... What's your name?" She asked.

"Brianna." I said. She looked at my confused.

"Brianna..." She said waiting for me to go on.

"Oh! Brianna Grande!" I said smiling and clutching my suitcases tighter. I haven't been here for more then an hour and I'm already embarrassing myself.

"No need to be nervous, I know it must be nerve racking your first day of college and all." She said smiling and sitting from her seat behind the desk.

"Ok, so let me show you your dorm. Follow me." She said smiling. I followed her down some hallways and up some steps, then down more hallways. Finally we reached our destination.

"Ok, so this is your dorm... dorm 24!" She said smiling. I chuckled, it was dorm 24...

"A lot of people laugh at the number..." My dean explained nodding. I could imagine.

"So... here are some of the rules... no having sexual activity with your roommates...." Lianna explained.

"Um... I'm not a lesbian...." I said awkwardly. Lianna paused...

"Um... ok... any who don't make too much noise after 11:00...." Lianna went on. Why was that so funny? My roommate was obviously going to be a girl!

"Got it?" Lianna said snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Mhm..." I nodded lying.

"Ok, you know where to find me if you have any questions. Also, the dormitory office number is on everyone's fridge." Lianna said clasping her hands together.

"Here is your key.... and... have a good day!" She said handing me the key then she practically skipped down the hallway. I smiled, she was a sweet girl.

I opened the door and rolled my suitcases in. These dorms were big! There was two small bedrooms, a kitchen/living room and a bathroom right by the tv in the living room.

"Hey bro!" I heard a voice say. It was a familiar voice. It was a boy! Shouldn't it be a girl? Why did it sound just like....

The person walked out of a bedroom. His face became serious. I saw a brown mop of curls and green eyes.

Harry.

"Are you following me?" He asked.

"No... but are you following me?" I asked.

"No... so we're roommates?" He asked leaning on the kitchen island.

"Not for long, there must be a mistake, I should have a girl roommate. I thought this was a girl's dormitory." I said clutching my suitcases and heading for the door.

"You know..." Harry said, and made me stop in my tracks. I let go of my suitcases and swiftly turned around crossing my arms.

"You should have really read about this college a little more before applying..." Harry said pouring some lays chips that was on the counter in a bowl.

"And why is that?" I snapped. Harry looked up at me with a grin. Then he held a chip in his hand.

"Because this is neutral-gender dorming college." He stated. My mouth dropped and he bit the chip in his hand happily.

"You know?" Harry said digging his fingers in the bowl he poured chips into.

"I knew I'd see you soon... this is sooner then I thought..." He said then he ate more chips. My face got red with anger, I can't stand Harry. Now I have to share a dorm with him?

"Why are you getting red like a tomato love? Want a chip?" Harry said holding out a chip to me. I screeched.
