How am I going to say "NO" to baba...
This was the only question that kept repeating in my head. I quickly brushed my teeth and gulped some water to erase toothpaste's taste from my mouth. I hate it's taste so whenever I brush my teeth, I drink water afterwards. On that precise moment Azaan (call to prayer) started. I offered fajar prayer. And then, it was time to face baba..

Come on Daneen, you can do it. He is your father after all. He will understand..

Yes ofcourse he will.

All you have to do is say "No, baba I don't wanna marry Ahmed."

Yes.. i will say that to baba..

I don't wanna marry Ahmed

I don't wanna marry Ahmed

I don't wanna marry Ahmed

I kept chanting the conversation I had with my myself. And glanced at the clock "it's 5:45 am. He must have come back from the mosque." I said loudly and went to his room. I lightly knocked on the door and entered

"Baba.. "

"Ohh you are here... " he said while walking towards the door. "Let's not disturb your mother. She has fallen asleep and I know how much she loves sleeping, like you." Baba is in a good mood Daneen. It will be easy for us.. my subconscious never left me. I smiled at him and stepped outside. He placed a hand on my shoulder. I thought we were going to sit in the main hall but he didn't stop there. He took me outside in the lawn and we both sat on the swinging sofa.

I was quiet the whole time. The things that were in my head, started slipping slowly.

"Daneen.. " finally he spoke. "I know that you already know, why we are here." I stayed silent. I knew it was an awkward conversation for both of us. after a pause he continued.

"I wanted to tell you why I chose Ahmed for you. You know I always wanted a daughter because they are Allah's blessings, as our prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) said. The moment I held you in my arms, that moment was priceless. You were so precious because we got you after so many prayers. That day I promised myself to take care of you, to protect you and to up bring you according to the teachings of Islam. I was the one who gave you your name. Do you know what does it mean??"

I was so engrossed in his words that It took me a moment to reply. I nodded and said, " Maa told me it's princess."

"Indeed it is. You were, are and will be our princess always. And you know what the most difficult task for all the fathers is ?? To find a prince for their princesses." On that I looked down and he continued. .. " who will look after their daughters, value them, love them and most importantly respect them. It was a hard task, I have been keeping an eye on good proposals and last year I met him. Ahmed, he is a great person Daneen. I can say it because I have seen it with my own eyes. He is a pious muslim. He has recently completed his degree from England and he is working in a reputable firm. I have done complete research on him Daneen, trust me. Only then, I have chosen him"

"Ofcourse, I completely trust you baba. You don't need to tell me all of this." I was so overwhelmed by the love, care and worry. It was hard not to cry.

"It was necessary. You need to know everything, it is your right. I am answerable to my Allah, I don't want to leave anything. So, I'm going to ask you two things. And you are going to tell me exactly what's in your heart. Is that clear?" He said smiling and I returned the same.
