Rishis POV

The farewell party was in full swing, the air filled with laughter and music. Anureet stepped into the hall, her saree a stunning shade of royal blue with intricate gold embroidery. The moment I saw her, My heart skipped a beat. She looked like a vision, every bit the queen of the night.

"Wow, Anu, you look... amazing," I said

Anureet blushed, "Thanks, Rishi. You look good too!"

We spoke with our friends, dancing and enjoying the night. But as the clock ticked closer to midnight,I grew more nervous.I had planned this moment for months, and it had to be perfect.

"Anu, let's go outside for a bit," I suggested

She nodded, and we went towards one of the decorated tents set up in the garden. The tent was softly lit with candles and it all looked so enchanting

"Anu, there's something I need to tell you."I admitted
She looked at me curiously. "What is it, Rishi?"

"Do you remember our biology class when we learned about symbiosis?"I began.
"We talked about how certain organisms rely on each other to survive, to thrive. They become so intertwined that they can't imagine life without the other."
Anureet nodded, with curiosity and confusion in her eyes.
"Anu, ever since I met you, you've been my symbiotic partner. You bring out the best in me, and I feel like I can face anything as long as you're by my side. You're my anchor, my constant. Just like the heart pumps blood to every part of the body, you bring life to every part of me."

I took her hands in mine, looking into her eyes and said
"I know this might sound cheesy, but you're the mitochondria to my cells, the powerhouse that keeps me going. I love you, Anureet. More than words can ever express."

With tears in her eyes anureet smiled and said
"Rishi, I love you too. I've loved you for so long."

Just as we leaned in for our first kiss, the unimaginable happened. The pallu of Anureet's saree brushed against a candle, and within seconds, it caught fire. Anureet screamed, panic taking over as the flames spread.

"Anu, hold still!" I shouted, grabbing a nearby blanket and smothering the flames. The fire was out, but Anureet was trembling, her face pale with fear.

"I've got you, Anu. It's going to be okay,"
I whispered

I carried her to my car and drove to the hospital. Anureet had once told me about her traumatic experience with fire, and I feared this might bring all those memories back.

At the hospital, the doctor examined Anureet and then pulled me aside. I told him she has had this kind of experience before
"She will be fine,right?"I asked
"She'll be fine physically, but because of her past trauma, it's best if she doesn't see you immediately,as it could overwhelm her"

I felt my heart break into a million little pieces. All I wanted was to be by her side, to comfort her. But I nodded, knowing Ihad to do what was best for her.

As I sat in the waiting room waiting for her mother to come
I promised myself I'd be there when she's ready to see me,honestly I'd be there for her always,no matter what!
