Odd I look out and walk outside. The car quickly flips around and drives off once they see me. They must've just gotten lost and used my driveway to turn around.

I shrug and go back inside. I walk to my bed and lie down. Covering up as I let sleep consume me.

I woke up in the morning, and I noticed a small breeze coming from my window. I stared at it in confusion. I don't remember opening this. Whatever I did, I had an eventful day yesterday.

I quickly get dressed for work and look in the mirror, pleased. I ran out the door with my bag. My work is about a 20-minute walk from my house.

After work, I was going to have to get my car looked at.

I sigh deeply as I walk. The cold breeze hits my slim body, causing a small shiver.

I see a cop car behind me. I turn around and look at the cruiser. The window slowly rolls down the same cop from last night.

"Officer?" I say with a question.

"Where are you going, miss?" He asked me, looking at me blankly.

"I'm just walking to work, sir. You said it wasn't safe to drive it until I got it fixed, so I'm just walking to work; it's not far." I say this as I begin to walk again, feeling the car slowly creep beside me.

"Well, it's still dark out. I don't feel comfortable letting you walk alone in the dark. Would you like a ride to work?" He asks me as he takes a drag of his cigarette.

I pondered the question for a moment.

I mean, it sure beats having to walk.

"Sure, if you don't mind," I said, looking at him.

"I wouldn't have offered if I did. Hop on it." He says he is putting his cigarette butt in his shirt pocket.

I walk around to the passenger door and tug on the handle. Opening the door and gliding myself in. I close the door and wait for him to start driving. He looks at me, staring.

I look at him and give him a questioning look.

He leans back and looks at me, bewildered.

I look at him, confused.

"Did that ticket mean nothing to you?" He asked

Huh what? Ohhhhh.

I grab the seatbelt, fasten myself in, and look at him.

"Well, you were heading this way; just tell me the directions or the name of your work, he said.

"I work at Sally's Sweets," I say, smiling.

He drove pretty much silently the entire way there.

Once we got there, he parked, and I unblocked.

"Thank you for the ride, Officer Griffin, "I say, looking at his name tag. Gregory Griffin.

He just nods.

I open the door and unlock the front door, heading inside.

I look out the window and see that he is gone.

What are the odds, I think? I shrug whatever. Someone probably called because they saw someone walking in the dark outside.

I continue my day, and my coworkers show up. I make desserts and package them up in the window as people come and go.

My day was finally over. I clock out and tell everyone bye. I'm making my way back home. Listening to music from my earbuds.

Jamming out. Softly sing to myself. I walk to my car to take it to get the lights looked at. I drive across the road. To the shop.

I open the car shop door. The bell is ringing.

"Hello, what can we do for you?" A guy asks.

"I was hoping to get my lights worked on. My car was broken into, and they damaged it. I was pulled over for the lights not working in the back." I say it with a small smile.

"That stinks about your car. I'll pull it in and have the guys work on it. Keys?" He asked with an open hand. I placed the keys in his palm, and he pulled them into the bay. Everyone immediately started working on it.

He comes back inside as they are working on it.

"Where was your car broken in at?" He asked me curiously.

"My driveway," I say with a little humor.

"Did they steal anything?" He asked me again with an even more curious face.

"No, it's not like I had anything worth stealing anyway," I say, laughing slightly.

"You broke as a joke like me?" He asked, smirking slightly.

"Aren't we all?!" I laugh along with him.

"Well, it looks like they are done. He rings me up. I swipe my card. Smiling again, I'm just happy I won't get pulled over.

Fixing the window would be a task for another day.

"Ma'am, I normally don't do this kind of thing; could I have your number?" He asked me shyly.

"Sure," I say with a smile, writing it on the back of their business card.

"Thank you guys for fixing my lights. I know for a fact I wouldn't have been able to fix them myself."

"It's no problem, ma'am; I never caught your name." He states

"Madison," I say, holding my hand out to shake.

"Harry." He says he is shaking my hand.

"Well, I really should be going; it was nice meeting you, Harry," I say, heading out the door. The bell rings again.

I walk to my car and turn it on. I click my seatbelt. And drive off to my house.

I was starving.

I unlocked my front door and locked it again.

I set all my stuff down and opened my refrigerator door. The light illuminates the food in the fridge. I'll grab a few items and prepare my dinner.

I turn my TV on and watch TV as I cook.

The mouthwatering smell only makes me even more hungry. I make my plate and sit down on the couch in the living room as I continue to watch TV. I sigh happily, laughing now and then at the TV show, finding humor. After I get done eating, I shower, brush my teeth, and drift off to sleep.
