Maybe it was something you ate?

He parks in my driveway.
"Let me open your door." He says that while trying to turn the car off, the humming of the engine disappeared completely.
I unbuckled. I watched him make quick strides to my door, opening it. With a cheeky smile on his face.

"My lady." He says it with a small bow.
"Thank you, Gregory." I say this with a small smile on my face as I feel a blush creeping in.
Stepping out, he softly closes the door behind him.

We walk to my house slowly, the darkness of the skin doing little to aid my poor night vision.
I unlock my ground door, holding it open for him to walk in as I turn on the light.

"Oh, hello, buddy." Greggory calls, leaning down in front of the cage.

I close the door, locking it behind us.

"You can let him out if you want, or I can?" I tell him to set my bag down on the counter.

"Let me try and let him out; do you mind getting me something to drink?" He asks as he begins to open the kennel.

"Oh yeah, where are my manners?! One second." I say, walking back into the kitchen to get him something to drink. I peek my head.
"Soda? Or water?" I ask him.

"Water, please. I try to avoid soda; it's so bad for you." He tells me he is petting Buddy, flopping his ears.

"Want me to feed him?" He asks, looking at his empty bowl.

"If you want to?" I ask questions with a questioning tone.

"Sure, why not?" He says he is handing me the almost empty water bowl to fill up.

"Just one of these cups?" He asks about pulling it out.

"Yeah, that's what the vet recommended." I say this as I fill up the water bowl.

I set it down carefully on the ground.

I gave him his cup of water.
"Here you go. Do you want to watch a movie or something?" I ask with a small smile.

"Sure, I don't work tomorrow, so I'm not worried about getting home late." He says he is sitting down on the couch after me.

"Here, I'll let you pick the movie." I say, handing him the remote and clicking on the streaming service.

He scrolls, "Is this okay with you?" He asks which movie just so happens to be a horror movie.

"I, uh, yeah," I say, unsure.

He chuckled. "Don't worry, I'll keep you safe." He is softly petting my hair.

"Okay." I say, leaning close to him. His aftershave and cologne smelled heavenly.

Every now and then, a jump scares the world and forces me to move closer to him.

I absolutely hated scary movies.

I was trying to impress him. He would just softly grab on to me and say something along the lines of "it's okay." "I got you." "No need to be scared."

Strangely enough, I did feel safe with him. I wasn't sure if it was because he was a cop or just his presence that made me feel safe. Or was it because I was being harassed and finally having someone to make me feel safe was nice?

After the movie was almost over, he suddenly kissed my lips, surprising me. The kiss felt hungry; more desire felt. He softly placed one of his hands on my cheek as he kissed me.

He pulls away suddenly.

"Just a kiss for now." He says this before moving my crazy hair out of my face.

The movie credits begin to play.

"I had an amazing time today." He tells me this with a smile.

"You did?" I ask for reassurance.

"Absolutely, any time I spend with you is amazing." He says, softly pecking my lips again.

Making me blush for what felt like the 100th time.

"Well, would you like to do it again sometime?" I ask him hesitantly.

"I thought you'd never ask." He teased me, booping my nose playfully.

While Buddy lays at our feet.

"Well, whenever you feel like it would be a good time, just text me or call." I say slightly awkwardly, feeling shy yet again in his intimidating demeanor.

"Oh, I plan on it." He tells me to get off the couch.

He checks his watch.
"Well, it's getting rather late. I reckon both of us should be heading to bed soon." He tells me to pull me up off the couch.

"Maybe I'll probably stay up a bit longer after you leave. I gotta catch up on my TV show." I tell him with a chuckle.

His face hardened for a second before relaxing.
"You have tomorrow off, right? Why don't you just watch it then? You look exhausted." He tells me:.
He was right. I did feel very tired all of a sudden.

"You're right. Let me walk you out. Besides, it will give me more things to do tomorrow." I say this as I unlock the door.

My vision becomes very blurry, and I feel disoriented.

"I feel strange." I say, holding my head.

I felt Gregory's arms grab me as I felt lightheaded.

"Are you okay?" He asks me, and his voice sounds concerned.

"Maybe it was something you ate?" He questioned before helping steady.

"Let's get you to bed." He states this and walks to my room.
It had me slightly questioning how he knew where my room was, but then again, there weren't that many doors to choose from.
He softly lays me in bed, slipping my shoes off.
"Do you need a bucket or something? Do you feel sick or just dizzy?" He asked me carefully.

"I'm just dizzy and sleepy." I say, closing my eyes. Slowly, his body is tunneling into my vision, as it appears like he is getting further and further away from me.

"Just rest, Madison; I'll be here if you need anything. I'm scared to leave you alone because you need help." He says he is kissing my forehead and throwing the blanket over me. He tells me before walking out of my room, leaving the door slightly cracked.
