Later into the morning, Colette walked around the camp, carrying pieces of armour and weapons in her arms, doing her part to help them prepare.

Eventually she found Hal, linking arms with him and following him as they walked over to John, who was standing as armour was being placed on him.

"John, why are you being fitted with armour? We were to fight without it" Colette asked, a look of confusion on her face.

"We need a frontline to draw them in." John said not looking at her.

She removed her arm from Hal's, taking a step forward "It cannot be you!" She said.

"Your majesty, the idea was mine, I think it only right for me to stand along the men who've been stuck into it" John announced.

"Do not call me that" she said sternly.

"This is what I was built for" John told her, finally turning to look at her.

"Hal, you will join this fight, but promise me, you will not join too early" John said looking at him.

Hal said nothing lifting his head up slightly, not able to form words. He didn't want to lose his best friend. He prayed he wouldn't.

Huffing, Hal walked away. Colette watched him go sadly, knowing he needed some time alone, she didn't follow him.

"John" she said

He looked at her, waiting for her to add to her words.

"Don't you dare die" She said with a playful smile.

"I wouldn't dream of leaving my two friends" he told her.

She hugged him, tightly. Not wanting to let go, knowing when she did, it could be the last time she ever spoke to him.

Eventually he did "Go find that husband of yours" he told her, she nodded, sparing him one last glance.

"I shall see you later" she whispered leaving the open tent.

When Colette did finally find her husband hidden away in a tent, he announced he was going to talk with the Dauphin. She of course, fought with him saying she wanted to come, and she won, of course.

So here they were, riding Hals horse to the French camp, both too nervous to come up with conversation on the way.

When they arrived the walked past the huddle of soldiers, until reaching where the Dauphin was, waiting patiently in his chair for the two.

Reluctantly, they bowed at him. Hal greeted him in French, which the Dauphin did not like.

"Please, please speak English. I enjoy to speak, English. It is simple.." He began but Colette muttered "like you" under her breath making Hal give her an angry side eye.

The Dauphin continued "and ugly"

Colette resisted the urge to mutter "like you" once more, as he disrespected her native language.

"I have been waiting all morning, all night, for your surrender. It might have saved a great unease, had it come sooner" The Dauphin said.

"I know you do not speak for your father." Hal said.

"I do speak for my father." The Dauphin said.

"I know you do not speak for your father, so I come to you directly. I have not come to surrender. Too much Christian blood will be spilled on this field today. So I propose this: you and I fight, one man on man. We fight in our armies stead" Hal suggested.
