Taylor's just finished her vocal warm up for the show when her phone starts buzzing, incoming FaceTime from Trav, it reads. Without hesitation she slides her finger across the screen and finds herself face to face with her man's cheesy grin.
"Hey you" she greets, propping her phone against the mirror in front of her. Taylor is alone in the room, her sound guy set to arrive any minute to help put her in-ear monitors in.
"Oh shit, I didn't realize you were getting ready to go on!" Travis apologizes quickly. Obviously, observing her location and bedazzled bodysuit.
"All good. I still have a minute" she says, "what's up?"
"So, baby, I know I said I would be coming to see you but I was wondering if we could adjust the plan a little bit," Travis inquires.
"Oh?" Taylor's mind jumps to the worst case scenario, he's not coming. Cancelling for sure, its too much for him to fly to Australia for a couple shows and then back in less than a week.
"Yeah. I was wondering, and you can absolutely say no to this, its your tour, but my buddies, you know Ross and Aric? Well, they really want to see the show. I was wondering if they could come with me to Australia?" he seems nervous as he asks her. Taylor almost chokes. The fact that his male, adult friends want to fly across the world to watch her shows and just watch her shows feels so foreign. It was hard enough getting Joe to come to her shows but bringing a friend? Forget it.
"Oh my gosh, yes, of course!" she enthuses, "That will be so much fun!". The fact that Travis' friends were also willingly going to travel across the world to come made added to the excitement building inside her.
"Sick! They are going to be so excited. Thank you baby! You're the best!"
It may seem silly to some people, how someone who plays concerts for millions of people would be so excited to have two extra guests. Yes, Taylor absolutely loves having friends and family come to the shows but her boyfriend bringing his friends runs way deeper than simply two extra familiar viewers. Joe almost never brought friends to her concerts, they were too juvenile for his high class group. Her shows, with all their glitter and pop songs, weren't cerebral or artsy enough to deserve their presence.
"I can't wait" she says. There's a knock at the door to her dressing room and the sound guy enters. "I gotta go. Love you!" she bids him.
"Me either. Go have a good show, Tay! You'll kill it! Not like you need me to tell you that but you will! I love you so much!"
