PLEASE NOTICE— CHAPTER FOUR.
Violet Otello had a tendency to be overprotective. She experienced loss from a young age after being abandoned by her father and then losing her sister tragically. By planning and being cautious, Violet was able to stabilize her environment.
When it came to her loved ones, Violet was a reckoning. She would do anything to protect them.
When it came to herself, Violet found that being cautious was the best approach. She quite literally locked herself away, storing her emotions in her body like a chest, and harboring herself inside like a fugitive.
Maybe it was a little overkill but three locks and a security system kept her safe.
At least, that was the idea. She hadn't exactly tested it.
When Violet returned home from the hospital, she immediately took a shower and started mapping. She needed to put her mind to something other than her fight with Tara, and her fears. So, she was being proactive.
The best way to protect her friends was to find out who was hurting them.
So, here she was, late at night, making a murder board.
Maybe it was stupid, but she loved Clue and mystery movies so this was the next best thing. Plus it was better than ruminating on negative feelings.
In the previous Woodsboro massacres, the killers have been boyfriends, friends, parents, secret-siblings, and cousins. So, it was safe to say that the killer was connected to their friend group in some way.
The map had started with each member of the current friend group as center plots and then expanded to various shades of sticky notes and strings leading to other relations and suspects, including members of each of the original massacres.
Staring at the map yielded more questions. Something felt like it was missing.
Sam is the daughter of the original killer, likely central to the entire new generation of massacres. Mindy and Chad were connected to the second round of killings. Violet was connected to the third. Tara was connected to Sam, Mindy, Chad, and Violet.
Something was missing though.
The second attack had been on someone outside the friend group yet, he was connected to Liv and Tara. Still, not enough of a connection to make sense to the current web.
Violet couldn't help but feel like there was something bigger at play.
The shriek of the phone is what tears Violet away from her puzzle, sending waves of anxiety through her body like electricity in an outlet.
However, when Violet glanced at the caller ID, the terror dissipated.
Violet quickly steadied her breathing to not let the girl know that she was startled by the call, pressing answer once she'd relaxed enough. "Honey, I told you I would be working late tonight."
Violet stifled a laugh as she answered the call. She and Mindy had a habit of playing into being an old married couple.
Mindy huffs from the other line, ever the doting wide to her husband. "I know baby but the kids miss you so much."
