When we got in and got checked in, the guy at the desk gave us our room key. We got to our room and to our amazement, it was actually pretty nice for the cheap half-ass price we payed. "Not bad, not bad at all." We agreed. We sat down on the bed first thing and rested. "God, i'm exhausted." Shelby said. "Yeah, you're not the only one. But whatever, let's just get this night over with, hotels give me the creeps." Another thing we both agreed on.
The next morning when Shelby and I woke up, it wasn't pleasant. We woke up to gun shots, which made us about piss ourselves, I told Shelby to stay there while I slowly opened the door, to peek out and down the hall.
The first thing I saw was a gunman yelling "NOBODY MOVE!" Of course they weren't listening, and I sure as hell wasn't going to. I ran back into our hotel room and by the time I got in there, Shelby was busting the window. "Need help?" I asked, and without waiting for a response, we both kicked the window out. "You first?" She asked. I sighed "Yeah, me first."
I cautiously examined my surroundings below, and to my surprise, there was a stack of mattresses, we were only three floors up so it shouldn't be that bad.
"Shelby! Look!" I pointed towards the mattresses in the grass. "That's perfect!" She yelled. "Join hands?" I asked. "Tightly?" She responded. We both smiled and nodded, with confirmation. We looked at each other, tightly grabbed hands, and locked fingers, and as we jumped, we closed our eyes and hoped for the best..
Reluctantly, as we landed, we fell on the mattresses, and rolled off into the grass, laughing in each others arms. "That was awesome." Shelby said, giggling. I happily agreed, trying to catch my breath and not ruin the moment at the same time.
"So, now what?" I asked, without answering, Shelby grabbed my hand and we ran behind an alley. We both looked in each others eyes again and I said "I love you" nervously. We kissed on the lips and afterwards she said "I love you too, Chase."
"Okay, we better get going." She said. "Yeah, do you wanna lead for a while, since I got us into this mess?" I asked while grinning. She said "Well, don't you need your car? Haha." "Oh yeah haha. thanks for reminding me, I think you just saved both of our lives." "I do my best."
As we got into the car, I let her drive. "So, we should probably go southeast or just east where it's nicer and not so many mountains and snow and everything." Shelby agreed. "Okay, get ready for the ride of your life!" She said while winking.
When she started the car, she immediately stepped on the gas pedal, and we sped off while hearing gun shots in the distance. "Holy shit, we should turn on some music." "What artist?" "Eminem?"
Eminem. That was the person that seemed to connect us most.
I had all of the albums in the back of the car, we were having trouble deciding which one, so we both decided "Let's listen to them in order, First off, Infinite, then The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, Encore, Curtain Call: The Hits, Eminem Presents; The Re-Up, Relapse, Recovery, and Hell: The sequel.
We went about seven hours without a rest stop, so we made good distance, around 500 miles. After about 7 hours and 500 miles, we were back into Omaha. "we should probably take a detour. Like 2-3 hours south" I suggested. "Good idea, you take over, I need a nap." She said, which is fine by me, because I slept for about 5 of the 7 hours.
