I changed my bed to red because I couldn't bear the white color. I like red; in fact, I should like red. I like my beautiful solo room. I arranged my clothes in the wardrobe and told them that this is their place for the next three years. I opened my laptop and checked my email. My school friends wished me well as I stepped into a new chapter of my life. I conveyed my warm gratitude to them.
It's 5 p.m. The cool air welcomed me, so I made my way out. I informed the warden that I'm going out. I just wanted to find a peaceful place in here where I could go whenever I felt yellow and blue, whether it was spring or winter, sunshine or rain.
I was nervous too.. Anyway, I left the hostel and started walking in the street. Although I enjoy walking, I was afraid to venture into an unfamiliar city alone. So, I decided to take a bus that would take only ten minutes to reach my destination. As I walked, I met an Irish man who greeted me with a friendly
'Hello!' 'I'm Finn Walsh,' he said.
"I've been here for six years, originally from Ireland."
I introduced myself too.
Finn asked, "How long have you been here?"
"Since this morning," I replied.
"Wow, that's great! Welcome to the friendly city, where you can make new friends," he said with a smile.
For a second, I thought about the stereotypes I had heard about the city...
"Where are you headed?" he asked.
"I'm just looking for a park around here, is there one?" I asked.
"Yup, there are plenty," he replied.
"I'm actually headed to Hyde Park. Would you like to join me?" he offered.
"Okay, let's head to Hyde Park then!"
"Sure," I said.
"Shall we go there step by step? It will only take twenty minutes to reach Hyde Park."
Finn was a software engineer, He was really kind to me. He appreciated my willingness to step out of my comfort zone in just one day. I recorded all the memories from the hostel to Hyde Park using the camera my father gifted me. I always prioritize recording my journeys, as they become cherished memories for my loved ones in the end.
We reached Hyde Park, the lungs of city, filled with greenery. I had read in a book that Hyde Park consists of three hundred different plant species, but seeing it in person was a lively experience. I thoroughly enjoyed its tranquility—a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of city life. This is why Finn, a software engineer, often came here for forest bathing. I took out my diary and wrote about how I was feeling in that present moment. Everything was recorded on my camera.
Finn may have spent a few more hours in the park, but I had to leave on time, so I bid him goodbye.
"Anna! Shall I get your number?" he asked.
"Sure" I replied, giving him my number.
"Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too."
Hyde Park was such a pleasant place, but I'm still hoping to find another place to share yellow and blue. Anyways, Finn's arrival made this day the happiest one.
