I was at the Bronze with the gang, talking, drinking just having fun together, we had been there a good few hours by now, and I just couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching us, I look around a few times but nothing.. That's when Xander caught my attention, gesturing for me to join him on the dance floor so I slipped through the crowd making my way over to him. As the night went on, I had kind of put aside the thought of someone watching us, I mean, I was the only one that had noticed anything as the others laughed, danced, were just carefree and enjoying themselves.I danced and danced but that's when I suddenly felt it again, like a presence lurking, their eyes on me. I once again tried to put it down to maybe nerves but decided to still keep an eye, with all the vampire talk it would be careless not to. I made my way back to the table and take my seat in between Willow and Buffy, we watched Xander continue to dance all alone, he looked pretty happy spinning around, I couldn't help but chuckle at the sight. I took a sip of my drink and turn to Buffy.
"Hey Buffy.. I was wondering if your slayer senses had picked anything up tonight ?"
She turns to look at me a little confused and asks me what I mean.
"Well I'm just having a hard time shaking off the feeling that we're being watched."
Buffy sits up a bit straighter and gives a quick look around the room, her eyes focusing on anything suspicious, then she turns back to me with a little smile.
"I think you might just be a little tired and with all the patrolling at the moment, you're probably just on edge, a good nights sleep will make it all feel better."
I give a quick smile at her response but still feel a little uneasy. Another hour passes and I decide to call it a night and go home. Willow had offered to accompany me home but I assured her I would be fine as I don't live that far, about a fifteen minute walk. I say goodbye to everyone and start to walk home. On my way back, I feel a little better, agreeing that it was probably just the ambiance of the Bronze making me feel uneasy.
I'm about half way to my house at this point, walking past the cemetery when a vampire comes rushing at me, I turn to grab my wooden stake, Buffy always makes us carry one on us in case of emergency. But as I turn to stake him, he's already gone, and in his place stands a much taller, more mysterious looking man, I stand there for second not really sure what to say or do, did he just dust that vampire ?
"thank you.. I think" is all I can say, my eyes still focused on him, taking in his features.
"no problem" he answers in a much quieter voice than I was expecting, his eyes focused on mine as well.
After a moments silence, my eyes still fixed on his own, I open my mouth and so does he, I let out a small laugh realizing we were planning on both saying something at the same time to which I insist on him going first.
"I was just going to say" he pauses for a second "you definitely stand out in a crowd."
I tilt my head slightly confused at what he had just said, then the realization hit me.
"Wait, were you watching me all evening ?!" I say, my voice louder than I expected. I slowly take a step back as I see him nodding his head yes.
"No please, it's not what you think, my intention was not to just lurk but that's a little hard not to do when you're a vampire.." My eyes widen at what he had just said.
"You're a vampire ?!" I can't help but almost shout.
"I am.. but I still have a soul, I have no intention on hurting you..." He says waiting for me to give my name, now I wouldn't usually give out my name to any old vampire, but something felt different with him.
"Yn, my name is Yn" I say quietly, barely noticing the step closer he had taken.
"I'm Angel." He says a little louder and with a friendly smile, I know he's a vampire, he's bad.. so why am I so drawn to him, I didn't even mind him being this close, even though I know it's wrong. I could feel my heart beat picking up, and when I turned to look back to him, all I could see was a slight smirk playing at the corner of his lips. He sensed every single thing I was feeling.
I snap out of my thoughts and say goodnight, quickly walking away, leaving him standing in the same spot where I left him. After getting home I take a shower, have something to eat, but something was playing on my mind, or rather someone. I decide to sit on the swings in the backyard and pull out a cigarette, I feel around in my pockets for a second and swing my head back in defeat as I realize I left my lighter at the Bronze, I let out a sigh when I suddenly notice a hand offering me a light, I can't help but let a smile appear on my lips, already knowing who it was. I turn to see him stood there, Angel.
"Following me home now are we ?" I ask while accepting the lighter. He just chuckles at my question. I then add "How did you know I was going to need one ?"
"Vampires have a very good sense of smell.. and I also saw you forget to pick up your lighter back at the bar." I let out a single chuckle at his answer, we sit there in silence as I finish my cigarette and as I'm putting it out, I notice him get up to leave, I quickly stand up too.
"don't forget your lighter" I say putting out my hand with the lighter in.
"guess we'll just have to meet again so I can get it back" He says as he continues to walk off.
A smile playing once again on my lips as I watch him disappear back into the shadows.
