Things That Can Go Wrong In Accidental Marriage Stories

Accidental marriage stories are not my cup of tea.

First, I have never even read one before, so that brings the question: how did they get married in the first place??

One of the plausible explanations is that it's an arranged marriage and one of the main characters got switched with another person with the same name. And then the two couples who got married by accident fall in love and the story ends.

But meh, I'm usually not the type to write romance stories. I don't even have any experience with romance!

When I tried to do it one time, though, it ended up focusing on a murder that happened when they first met each other. Talk about a great first bonding time...

Anyways, why am I writing this?

Because my older cousin is getting married today.

He decided to go on a cruise ship and was struck with the 'love at first sight' trope.

But somehow, luck favored him this time because after getting to know her, he confessed to her and asked her for her hand in marriage.

And guess what?

Turns out, girlie was also struck with the 'love at first sight' trope and ACCEPTED HIS PROPOSAL.

And this happened in less than six hours.

I'm not even kidding. (I wish I was. I'm no romance expert but I sure know that love takes a long time and NOT in six hours or less.)

So after 2 months of getting both families's permission, they're getting married today.

And today was not off to a great start.

Firstly, the alarm I set last night was at the lowest volume for some reason. I have no idea how that happened, it just... happened.

So now I had around 2 hours and less to get to the venue on time.

You may think, 'But that's a lot of time?' Keep in mind it takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to go there by car.

Why was the venue so far? My cousin and his soon-to-be wife decided to have a wedding near the beach as a way to remember their first time meeting together.

So, I quickly got ready for the day, even skipping breakfast because who needs to eat when you're in a hurry? I didn't feel hungry anyway, so...

Secondly, I had to run while simultaneously looking at the road for any signs of a free taxi. Took me around... 10 minutes before finally getting a ride.

Thirdly, I was halfway through the journey when I realized I forgot to bring a gift. I mentally facepalmed at my forgetfulness, but it was too late to turn back now and there were no gift shops nearby.

Finally, I arrived at the wedding and after struggling to find a seat, it was time to enjoy the show.

That explains the romance part, but what about the accidental marriage part?

Well, as I'm writing this, THE BRIDE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE WHAT MY COUSIN TOLD ME SHE LOOKS LIKE!!

He told me she looked quite beautiful, shining bright as the sun, her eyes dreamy as the clouds, yada, yada, yada, you get the point. But the actual information I got was that she had light yellow eyes and long black hair with blue tips.

When he said that, I immediately thought of An Shiraishi from Project Sekai (yes, I'm a pjsk fan) and I could not get my mind off that my cousin - who looks like your average low-life mc in an anime - managed to pull a girl that looks like An Shiraishi.
