Androids usually appear in detective stories.

When a series of mysterious murders or crimes take place, a detective is paired up with an android. This type of story is usually to overcome prejudices, commonly from the detective.

That's probably why I prefer using gadgets. It doesn't talk, move, or act like a human, so I don't have to worry about being judged when I'm with technology.

I got my first phone when I was six.

For the following week after my parents passed away, I had to wear all black whenever I went to the viewing. For formalities, they said.

And on one day, my aunt gave me a phone. "In case you feel lonely," she explained.

When I went home that night, I tried using it. I had heard from my classmates on how to use it since they used their parents' phones. So, I just relied on their "guide" for how to use it, since I never borrowed my parents' phone before.

The thing they talked about a lot were videos on an app, which was already installed on the phone. It took me a while before getting used to it. They weren't lying about how addicting it is to watch videos here... and it was more addicting to read the comments. I guess reading their reactions and thoughts was interesting for me at the time.

It still is.

But, when I was 11, there was a day at school that REALLY made me surf the internet more. Oh, and also write. No wonder they call me a cellphone addict...

I was going to the clubroom before hearing a rather... interesting conversation from the students above my grade.

"You didn't have to be so mean," One of them said, sighing.

"What? It was necessary, you know," The other one reasoned, getting angry.

"Yeah, but it only seemed necessary to you," The first one replied. "What if you make him so upset that he considers ending his own life? We don't want another tragedy like what happened to that girl."

"Oh, come on," The second person scoffed, seemingly calm about the situation. "Not everyone becomes suicidal just because someone raises their voice. Life doesn't always go their way, and if they can't handle that, maybe they shouldn't be alive."

"You can't say that," The first person exclaimed. "You don't even know what they're going through!"

The second person rolled their eyes as they walked towards the door. "Weren't you the one who suggested doing that to that girl?"

The first person took a deep breath, seemingly guilty at the question.

"You're no different, you know," The second person smirked before opening the door-- OH WAIT I WAS NEAR THE DOOR---

I quickly rushed off, trying to pretend I didn't hear their conversation. At the time, I had no clue what they were talking about, but I'm older now.

If I remember correctly, 2 weeks before my parents died, a girl seemingly jumped off the railings on the second floor during lunch. People on the internet said she was suicidal, based on her posts. However, the girl's parents quickly told the school to keep it confidential, so it eventually died down.

Thankfully, the boy they were mentioning didn't have the same fate as the girl, or at least I've heard of. I hope he's doing ok...

Anyway, since past me wanted to know what they were saying, I did an internet search on what suicide meant and, well, that's how I officially got roped into the internet.
There were many answers, so I couldn't help but ask myself, 'If I were to ask, would there also be answers?'

I didn't sleep that night because I was too busy asking the internet questions.

And some answers redirected me to a website where you can also post your thoughts anytime. One post caught my eye and is still stuck in my head to this day.

'Maybe I should try writing my thoughts too.'

And thus marked the day I started writing.

Usually, I would try doing something new, and then lose motivation to do it, and then find something else to do. But that didn't happen for writing.

So, I decided to continue it. And I made up my mind.

I'll be a writer.

As for the real reason why I didn't give up, I guess that's a story for another time.
