You felt nervous when you first saw your new home, the Pink Palace. The apartment was still in good shape despite being much older than the ages of you and your husband combined. It had cracks in the ceiling and wall with plain wallpaper, but at least you both got the best section of the entire apartment. It had the attic and the basement with your two new neighbors before you.
While (Husband's name) was dealing with moving furniture with two movers, you decided to wander outside the apartment, feeling bored from staying inside and wanting to explore your new home.
You were wearing your maternity clothes in your favorite color with short sleeves. For this dress, you had made butterfly embroidery all over it. You had worn rain boots instead of your usual flat shoes because you heard that there was mud everywhere. You didn't want your shoes and feet to get dirty.
You looked around the dull garden area behind the Pink Palace with nothing to plant and wilted trees. You pushed the gate open lightly before you walked further to the outside. You carefully walked around without tripping on anything like roots, rocks, etc.
As you walked past the rocky mountain, you heard the sound of a cat meowing behind the rocks above you. Your face raised to the sound before you ignored it and kept walking. You walked up the hills and went through the wilted trees before finally stopping at the tree stump with a fairy ring beside it. You stood in the fairy ring as you felt something off for an unknown reason. You assumed it might be anxiety about the gloomy environment in Oregon, all the dead trees you saw on the way here, or the fairy ring that you were currently standing in, considering bad luck to anyone who stood in it.
You were startled as you heard the sound of the cat meowing loudly. You turned around to see a black cat with blue eyes standing on the tree stump. You placed your hand on your heart and let out a relieved sigh after seeing the animal. The cat stared at you intensely as you stepped closer to it.
"You scared me, little kitty." You looked around the area before you playfully asked the cat. "I heard that there is a well that is so deep below. Do you know where?"
The cat blinked its eyes, you guessed that he answered yes. "Well, a yes but not specific. Guess I have to search around this area."
You startled once again as you heard the loud honk from the top of the hill. You turned around to see someone riding a mini motorcycle with a mask painted with a skull. You gasped as you watched the stranger rid the motorcycle descend from the hill before heading towards you.
You luckily dodged the bike as the stranger drove past you, dumped the bike beside the tree stump, and stood on top of it. The stranger rolled the lens on their face to zoom on your face closer before the mask was removed, revealing the boy with brown skin and hair, way younger than you.
"Ooh! Let me guess. You're from Texas or Utah, somewhere dried-out and barren, right?" The boy's hand was placed under his chin as he observed you entirely. "Judging by your clothes, you aren't familiar with living on this wet and muddy ground. Wearing only rain boots but wear a loose dress while you should have a raincoat too. But I guess that the raincoat may not fit for your big stomach anyway."
