It was the middle of the night. Lana jolted awake and tried to regulate her breathing.
The moon shone in her room, giving her just enough light to distinguish objects and other items.
Bad dream. It was just a bad dream. To be honest; it wasn't even a dream, more like a voice, the one she had heard earlier.
Follow my directions
It became sterner now: Lana could tell; most of her was saying to ignore it or tell someone about it. But that one part, the most curious part that craved adventure and danger took over.
She took off her pyjamas and changed into jeans and a shirt. She quickly slipped a jacket on and walked downstairs.
Elijah sat on a chair in the main room, alone, having a small drink. His face looked to the floor.
Lana knew she'd have to go past him.
"Lana?" Elijah caught sight of her shadow in the corridor "where are you going?"
Lana fiddled with the collar of her jacket "I just need to go for a walk" she said nervously
"I'll come..." Elijah began
"... I need to do something and I think it be best for me to do it alone" her hands released themselves from the collar and lowered so they rested nearly on her stomach.
"If you are doing something dangerous, I assure you I'll help you" Elijah pleaded
"It's not dangerous" she lied "its for a friend"
She took off out the door but quickly turned around "I'm sorry Elijah"
What was she sorry for? The way she acted? The tone she took when she didn't allow him to come with her? The lies she had told?
Maybe she just needed to apologise not only for him but for herself. Apologise for being in love with him and apologise for being hurt so easily.
"Next right" she mimicked the voice as she turned the corner. She had been walking for ages now and she barely recognised this part of New Orleans.
Lana came to a path where she had 2 large abandoned factories each side.
"Perfect place for a kidnapping" she mumbled to herself. The voice had stopped and she realised that this is where she needs to be.
"Miss Germaine?" Someone asked as the emerged from the darkness
"It's St. Germaine thank you very much" she hissed "and why have you felt it necessary to bring me out of bed at...2 in the morning; to only make me run into an awkward conversation with my ex and then walk to this sty of a place"
The man in front of her stood still "oh that wasn't me sweety" he shook his head.
Lana began to walk hastily up to him, maybe a broken arm could teach him a lesson.
"That was me" she small voice seemed familiar; someone from the past.
She could tell that a spell had been cast as soon as she reached a boundary, she stopped as if she had been hit with a bullet.
But she picked up and carried on. Her vision was blurred but she could make up the shape of the woman.
"Who the hell are you?" Lana asked, swaying from side to side
The woman began to walk to her "oh I'm sure you'll remember; I just need to jog your memory" she almost sung it
"Jog away" Lana said sarcastically even though she had felt like a dozen trucks had run over her.
"Remember that girl that you beheaded back in the 1700's?" She asked revealing herself by leaning down.
"Don't tell me your like a long lost relative?" Lana's head pressed to the hard floor to try and rid herself of the pain
"No" she said "I am her"
Lana took a gasp in and snapped her head up to see. That is where she remembered the voice from and that is why she had been lead here.
"It's time for revenge miss Lana St Germaine"
-
The night crept by slowly for Elijah. He walked around the compound and just tried to calm his nerves.
Eventually; after seeing Lana walk out, he went back up to his room and lay on the bed.
He woke up; a bit groggy. The sun directly in his eyes, causing him to turn over. To his surprise a woman lay on the floor, covered in blood.
He must've spaced out. All these emotions were getting to him and he probably needed some sort of release. He felt bad though; using someone innocent to quench his thirst and take his anger out on.
He quickly got up and got rid of the body before anyone could see him and before anyone could judge him.
"You look tired" Klaus commented when he walked down the stairs "what have you been doing?"
"I've been, occupied" Elijah focussed on the floor, not wanting to meet the gaze of anyone
"With a drunk sorority girl on spring break" Klaus mumbled to himself slightly "perfect waste of time"
Elijah shot him a glance. Ashamed and embarrassed he stood up "I need to speak to Lana"
"Elijah" Klaus began to speak
"No, brother I need to sort this out, it's haunting me" Elijah interrupted
"Elijah, no..." He went on to speak again but was immediately interrupted
"Why can't I? She is not only yours Niklaus" Elijah raised his voice. A girl Elijah recognised to be Lana's friend, Erin.
"Where's Lana? She's not in her room" she pointed to the stairs
"She's not?" Elijah asks
"That's what I'm trying to tell you, Elijah; I can't find her" Klaus finally spat it out
Elijah looked from Erin to Klaus before confessing "I saw her walk out last night; she said she had to do something"
"Well she was rambling on about voices the other day" Erin added "maybe it's linked?"
"The voices could have told her to do something or to go somewhere?" Klaus asked; trying to put 2 and 2 together
"But who's behind the voices then?" Elijah asked, fear filled his whole body.
"Your guess is as good as mine brother" Klaus shook his head
"Then where do we begin?" Erin asked
Klaus put his hand on her shoulder "we do not begin anywhere" he said "you calm down the vampires; they know you. And Elijah?"
Elijah's head shot up from thinking about where she could be.
"We need a witch"
