Elijah sat opposite Lana. Her eyes had been looking very glazed over, and her smile wasn't as bright as her natural one.

"are you okay?" Elijah asked her, snapping her out of whatever she was thinking of, also breaking the awkward silence.

"I'm fine" she said, not moving her face to see him, not moving at all. "I mean" she shook her head and snapped herself out of her trance "I'm actually really good thank you"

She flashed a smile at him, one of those cold, empty smiles. Elijah tilted his head and began to examine her again, he didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable or agitated, so he just looked at her subtly.

The room went quiet again. "What happened?" He asked

"when?" She said in reply, not looking at him but directing her questions to him

"In the factory" he reminded her. He swore he saw her eyes flash red with anger, she clenched her teeth but remained a calm posture and expression.

"Nothing" she said, the only sounds that could have been heard outside was he faint noises of birds. Something he enjoyed listening to, but in this atmosphere, it was almost unbearable.

"I don't believe that" he refused, looking back at the marks on her wrists that still made themselves known every now and again.

"Believe what you want" she shrugged "if you're sick enough to imagine me in pain then believe that, I'm just trying to make you feel better" she still acted calm though the words that came out of her mouth hit Elijah like bullets.

"What is wrong with you?" Elijah asked, thinking out loud, but he immediately regretted it.

She turned her head and glared at him. "What is wrong with me?!" She raised her voice "are you seriously asking me what is wrong with me? What is wrong with you? You're the one that's been stalking me ever since I've come back to town"

Elijah stopped; it felt like a smack in the face. He just stared at her and tried not to let his jaw fall to the floor.

"I'm sorry" she said realising what she had done "I didn't mean that I don't know why I said it"

He found it hard to speak. Lama was always so outspoken and she would say what was on her mind. But she was never like this. He shouldn't have asked her what was wrong, he knew that for a fact. But he kept finding excuses for her. Maybe she's just traumatised. Maybe she's scared, paranoid, on the edge. Maybe Maria did something to her that she's not admitting to.

"It's okay" Elijah leant his hand on her shoulder, she shut her eyes and just took in the atmosphere for a moment "if anything is wrong; you can always tell me"

"I will" she mouthed whilst forcing a smile. She didn't want to admit, but she had been feeling a bit off. She had been getting more agitated than usual, snapping at literally anyone as well as a small niggling in the back of her head. Slowly growing. Slowly taking over.

Elijah's hand lowered and gently held Lana's. He never knew a time he felt so in love, so happy yet so worried. Because after all; he was a Mikaelson... Bad luck is always bound to follow. And for Elijah, he had the worst of luck because he fell in love so easy, giving him so many weaknesses.

Lama slowly stood up and walked outside, with no other word to Elijah. Her hand found the outside wall and she leant her body weight on it, breathing deeply as if she was out of breath.

"Lana?" Klaus asked from behind her, catching sight of her stumble. She immediately straightened up in fear that Elijah had seen her, he'd barely let her out of his sight, not that she enjoyed the infinite attention from the man she loved, it only made her feel secure in their relationship. However, very recently she  found herself needing some space.

"Klaus" she breathed in relief "I was just... Um I was just" she stuttered and muttered trying to think of an excuse "I was just getting myself together" she said after a while, she wasn't going to explain if he asked, but it was Klaus and he always trusted Lana, so he wouldn't ask. Only take her word for it.

"Are you sure?" Klaus asked "you've not looked well for the past few days"

"Everyone keeps telling me that" she commented. Her skin had now turned to a sickly white colour, and her lips weren't full and red, instead they were a dry and pink colour. She didn't look like Lana never mind acted like her. "But I'll say what I always say" she began "I'm fine" she turned around and left.

But she really wasn't fine. She only said what she knew everybody wanted to hear. And she feared that if she stayed around them for too long, she would lash out and make them believe she was far from okay. And because Elijah and Niklaus had so much on their plate already, she didn't want to make things any worse.

She walked through the backstreets, her wounded wrists fired up once more but this time it was torturous. Worse than torturous.

Lana grunted in pain as she examined her wrists that looked the same as what they did earlier on. No signs of the wound worsening.

She needed to make it stop, she would do anything to make it stop. And at included, digging her fingernails into the wound and tearing chunks of infected flesh out. Blood splurged everywhere.

"Lana?" Elijah's figure stood, blocking the only exit she had. She took a moment to look and examine the shocked and scared look that slowly wiped across his face. His voice filled with confusion, how could she do anything like this and not tell him how she was feeling?

Lana felt as if someone jabbed a knife in the back of her neck, sending her cowering on the floor. 'Its time' the taunting voice echoed in her head.

Elijah stepped forward to see what was happening. But he immediately froze when Lana's head snapped up within the blink of an eye. She flashed her fangs at him and hissed.

He outstretched his hand, feeling the risk and the lack of control Lama had over her body. "Lana we can talk" he reasoned with her, trying to appeal to her usual self.

She hissed again, acting if she did not know any words. She slowly lifted to her feet, fangs still extended.

And then she pounced.

Hey; sorry for the late update... My phone broke and I have this silly flip phone that doesn't have Internet. And that means I have to update via iPad which takes AGES for me to write on... So I'm super sorry 😁😁😁😁
