Kasaii's legs gave out, and she collapsed to her knees. The adrenaline that had sustained her drained away, leaving her feeling weak and battered. She anchored her katanas to the dirt, using them to steady herself.
Kasaii's breaths came in ragged gasps as she struggled to stay upright, her katanas still glowing faintly from the intense battle.
Her body ached, each movement a toll.
There were deep gouges in the earth, shattered remnants of the surrounding buildings, and the lingering aura of dissipating cursed energy.
Kasaii's eyes, still red with her Sharingan, scanned the area, searching for any remaining threats.
Expecting to see smaller curses roaming about, she was not prepared for what crossed her eyes.
Her already ragged breathing almost came to a stop.
Released from the prison realm upon Kenjaku's death, the barrier that had held him captive finally shattered. It was Satoru, his form unmistakable even in the dim light.
He looked disheveled but unharmed— he looked disheveled, but he was still Satoru, her Satoru. His normally confident demeanor was tinged with a vulnerability that she had rarely seen.
He took a tentative step forward, his gaze never leaving hers.
"Kasaii," he called out, his voice filled with overwhelming emotion.
Kasaii's grip on her katanas loosened as she took a shaky step towards him, her red eyes immediately dissipating upon the sight of the man, glistening with unshed tears.
The sight of him, alive and free, brought a surge of relief that overwhelmed her.
"Satoru," she replied, her voice breaking slightly as she spoke his name.
In an instant, they were moving towards each other, their fatigue forgotten.
Gojo closed the distance between them in a few long strides, his arms enveloping her in a tight embrace. Kasaii's katanas clattered to the ground as she wrapped her arms around him, her body trembling.
"I thought I'd lost you," he whispered, his voice raw with emotion. "I thought I'd never see you again."
Kasaii buried her face in his chest, her tears finally spilling over. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for leaving. I fought so hard to get back," she replied, her voice muffled against his now-soaked shirt. "I couldn't let them take you from me too. I'm sorry for being so late, Satoru. I'm so-"
"No! I'm sorry. You didn't deserve that from me. I was being an asshole. I'm sorry, Kasaii. Please... Please take me back." Gojo cut her off as he pulled back slightly, his hands cupping her face as he looked into her eyes.
She nodded a small, relieved smile and chuckled, breaking through her tears."I'll think about it first."
He smiled back at her, a glimmer of his usual confidence returning. "Don't think too hard now."
Again, just like he did a few too many times before, Satoru leaned in and kissed the woman's forehead.
This time, Kasaii fully let him.
And for the first time in what felt like an eternity, she allowed herself to hope.
