Taehyung was in the midst of cooking when he noticed Annie emerging from her room, looking visibly drained and pale."I am going home," she announced, her face devoid of emotion.
"What? I told you yesterday it's not safe. You have to stay with me for a few days," Taehyung started, concern etched on his face, but she cut him off.
"I need to meet Somi. She must be worried," she replied in a slow, monotone voice.
"I spoke to her last night and explained everything. She's fine at the company. She didn't want to go, but I convinced her. It's company policy," Taehyung said, trying to lighten the mood.
"Now let's eat. Breakfast is ready."
"I'm not hungry," Annie replied softly, turning to walk back towards her room.
"Wait, Annie," Taehyung called after her.
"Why are you doing this to yourself? You've done nothing wrong, so why punish yourself? You have a younger sister who's incredibly worried about you. I know it's not easy, but you have to try to move on... please," Taehyung urged gently, tears welling in her eyes.
"He's the one who's wrong, and yet he's out there living his life. And what about you? You're starving yourself, killing yourself," he added, a touch of anger creeping into his voice.
Annie paused, her shoulders tense with unresolved emotions.
"I just... I can't forget," she whispered, her voice trembling.
"You shouldn't forget what he did to you . But you can't let him destroy you either," Taehyung said softly, moving closer to her.
"You deserve to be happy, Away from him."
"He's the reason I can't trust anyone anymore," Annie confessed, tears now streaming down her face.
"Annie, listen to me," Taehyung said earnestly, taking her hands in his.
"You can't let Jungkook's actions define your future. You have to believe that there are good people out there who won't hurt you like he did."
"He said he loved me," Annie choked out, her voice cracking with pain.
"He didn't love you. Someone who loves you doesn't hurt you like that," Taehyung replied firmly, his grip on her hands tightening slightly.
"You deserve respect, kindness, and love that lifts you up, not tears you down."Annie looked up at Taehyung, searching his eyes for reassurance.
"Do you really think I can move on from this?"
"I know you can," Taehyung said with conviction.
"But you have to take the first step. Let go of the hate and pain he caused you. You're stronger than you think."Annie nodded slowly, a glimmer of hope flickering in her eyes.
"Thank you, Taehyung. I'll try."
"Good," Taehyung said softly, pulling her into a comforting hug.
"I'll be here for you every step of the way."
Taehyung gently guided Annie to sit down at the kitchen table and served her a Korean vegetarian breakfast of steamed rice, savory tofu stew (Dubu-jorim), and assorted vegetable side dishes (Banchan) like seasoned spinach (Sigeumchi namul) and soybean sprouts (Kongnamul).
"It's hot, don't burn yourself," he cautioned, settling into the chair opposite her.
Annie's thoughts were still consumed by memories of Jungkook.
