Part 47: Approval

"Brother?"

Amara moved back from Ryan's embrace and smiled softly at Crystal. Ryan looked at his sister "Yeah Crys?" "I need to talk to sis-in-law. Can I fetch her for sometime?" "Anything serious?" "Nope, just some girls talk." Crystal said with a casual smile not making it sound so serious. "Okay." Amara looked at him, "I'll be right back." 

Amara was practically dragged outside the room by Crystal. "Crystal slow down, what's happening?" "Sis in law! Do you love me?" "What?" Crystal joined both her hands together "Sis in law, help me convince brother! Pleaseee?" "Huh? For what?" Crystal said in a low voice "Asher proposed to me.." Amara almost lost her composure "What!" "Shh..someone will listen..please sis in law! Help me convince brother!" Amara sighed and sat down on the couch. Crystal sat down beside her and looked at her with pleading eyes. "Do you like him?" Crystal nodded vigorously. "Does he like you?" She nodded once again. "That's good but I'm worried about how he'll take care of you." 

Asher, who's been watching this event from a distance, walked in. "You don't need to worry about her, Ms. Wood." Both of them stood up on hearing his voice. Asher walked towards them and looked at Crystal with a soft smile painted on his lips. "I liked Crystal ever since she first joined Uni. She's the best girl a man can ask for. Luckily, she likes me back. What more can I ask for? You don't need to have any worries about her. She's my priority and has always been. I promise to cherish her." Crystal was looking at him; her eyes filled with admiration for the man she liked. Amara nodded "Okay. I think I can talk to Ryan." Crystal squealed with a scream and hugged Amara "Thank you sis in law! I knew you would understand!" "Thank you Ms. Wood." "But on one condition." Both of them looked at Amara with all their attention. "Break her heart and I'll make sure you never breathe again." "You don't need to worry about that."

Walking in, Amara walked towards Ryan, who's now seated on the couch. She started telling what happened and tried to make the conversation go smoothly. Ryan disagreed at the start but Amara convinced him saying nothing could go wrong. "She can't have a boyfriend. She's only 19!" Amara gave him a mocking glance "When I was 19, we were having sex together." It turned Ryan speechless. "Well..We don't even know what type of a person that guy is or about his family." "Complete background check performed by experts. Decent family. Proper earnings. Properties that would last for the next 4 generations. No criminal records." Giving up, Ryan sighed in defeat "Fine. I agree." Crystal ran and hug her brother with a squeal "Thank you brother! You're the best!" Ryan patted her head. Crystal smiled widely, showing her cute dimples. "If he hurts you, I'll make sure he doesn't breathe again." "I can never hurt her." 

Once the new couple left the place walking hand in hand, Ryan and Amara finally sat down in peace. Ryan's phone rang so he stood up and answered the call. Walking a few steps away, he placed his hand in the pocket and started speaking seriously with the person on the other end. Once he was done, he walked back to see Amara leaned back onto the couch and her eyes closed. Gently lifting her in his arms, he walked towards the direction of their room. Sensing someone hold her, Amara opened her sleepy eyes and looked at him "I can walk." "I know but sleep. I will take you to our room." Amara didn't resist and let him carry her. She closed her eyes and nuzzled into the nape of his neck. Exhaling deeply, she let out a satisfying sigh and smiled. It was a nice feeling to have someone to lean on to when you feel tired isn't it?

Looking at others in the room, he said with a cold voice "Goodnight." And left with his woman in his arms. Jake sighed "This brat!He always does as he pleases." Lucas looked at him with a grin "You could've been the same but unfortunately someone else snatched your girl." Jake was annoyed and rolled his eyes. As he was about to react, his eyes scanned everyone else in the room, staring back  at him with the same grins. Even Nickolas, who was usually composed, was not bothered to hide his expressions and was having a wide grin on his face. This made Jake even more annoyed "What the f*ck is wrong with all of you?" Saying, he got up and dashed out of the room. Sara looked at Jake's retreating back and commented "He's sure in love." Nickolas looked at Lucas "Do you think he's okay?" "He loves her but he's not accepting the fact that he does. Once he accepts the reality, we will be able to do something." Talking for a while more, the others too naturally dismissed into their respective rooms.
