He Knows -Brett Talbot

It was the final lacrosse game for the season and to my luck it was Devenford Prep against Beacon Hills. My boyfriend Brett was playing, as well as my best friend Liam. He didn't know the two of us were dating, all he knew was that Brett hopelessly flirted with me to try and get back at Liam for ruining the coaches car.
"Ready to get beaten, Dunbar?" Brett smirked from the end of the lacrosse field, I was standing with Liam prepping him for the game.
"Can it Talbot," I snapped not wanting Liam to Wolf out before the game even began.
"You know you love it babe," he winked, making me blush and Liam angrier.
"Oh please, Liam can beat your ass any day," I sassed, sending Brett a wink.
He walked away to join the rest of his team.
"Why are you flirting back?" Liam asked confused.
"I'm not," I replied calmly, trying to steady my heart beat.
"I can hear your heart beat, I know you're lying Y/N," Liam said seriously, "are you two secretly dating or something?"
Oh crap.
"Okay yes but-"
"Why didn't you tellhand. " He said quietly.
"You hate him and I don't want that to come between me and you-"
"Then why date him," Liam spat.
"I don't know it just happened, I never planned on this happening but he really is a great guy."
Liam scoffed walking away.
"This is exactly why I didn't tell you," I huffed crossing my arms.
After the game had ended I walked back to my car only to find a tall figure leaning against one of the doors.
"Hey babe," Brett said, hugging me as I reached where he was standing.
"Hey," I replied quietly.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked, tilting your head up to look at him.
"Liam knows we're dating and now he hates me," I said with tears welling up in my eyes.
"Hey," he started saying, wiping away the tears that had fallen from my face, "if he really is your best friend he will come around, I know Liam. He can be a little runt when he wants to be but he will come back to his normal self once he knows we're serious, it might take him a while."
"Maybe this isn't a good ide-"
"Don't you dare Y/N, we can't break up just because your 'best friend' doesn't like it, I love you," Brett reasoned.
I could see his eyes getting glossy the minute those words had left my mouth. I would never break up with him but with Liam and I being friends since before Pre K, I was sure thinking about it.
"I love you too but-"
"No buts, I love you, you love me-" I cut him off.
"We're a happy family," I sang silently before I could stop myself.
Brett looked at me confused.
"Don't tell me you don't know who Barney is?"
He shook his head.
"Barney the purple dinosaur?"
Still no.
"Ugh its like you've had no childhood," I groaned causing him to chuckle.
"Come on dork, let's get out of here," Brett smiled taking a hold of my hand.
